hi guys! My husnband has been trying to call NVC for the past few days but no one seems to be picking up. Do they track numbers who call everyday so when that phone number gets to the limit of the number of calls they kind get "ignored"? Just wondering. :-)

Do you know what number he has been calling? Unless he is getting a busy signal he should be getting right through to a automated menu to select 1 for English or 2 for Spanish. If he isn't getting this menu he is probably calling the wrong number. I called on a daily basis when I was waiting for my case number to be assigned and I never had a problem getting through.

While it is technically feasible to make a call routing decision based on caller-ID I highly doubt the NVC would use this to prevent repeat callers from calling the NVC as often as they want.

Is he calling from a land line, mobile phone, VoIP service like Vonage or Google Voice? Is he calling from the US?

They track cases, not phone numbers. What I mean: each time someone calls and gives their case number, they keep a log of that, not the specific phone number. For example: when I was waiting for my interview date, I usually only called NVC once a day to inquire, but one day I decided to call up right before they closed, that being my second time for the day. I got an extremely rude operator saying I had already called that day and there was no interview then so there would be no interview now and that I should wait until the second week to call back again headbonk.gif

Is he using Magic Jack to call? I've seen people have problems of not getting through to NVC properly and they just hear ringing and ringing.

Hello VJ'ers,

How long is an employment letter valid? I got an employer letter from my job in February thinking uscis would approve within five months. Our case is just now at NVC. Would NVC think its old? Would I have to get a newer one?

If the information in the letter is the same today as it was when it was originally written, then there is not limit to how long an employment letter is valid. If anything has changed, obtain a new one reflecting the changes.

Does the embassy have your entire casefile or just the expedite request? If they deny the request for whatever reason do they send the case back to the NVC for processing?

In my opinion they should assign you an interview date if they have one available, even if the doctor's letter wasn't specific enough to show high risk pregnancy.

I may be requesting my own expedite, but for different reasons. My only grounds would be NVC error. Had they not rejected my wife's divorce decree the first time we would have had case closed on 4/4 and would have been in the queue for interviews before they started assigning them. I am 100% confident that we would have our interview date by now and we would be able to make travel arrangements now instead of having to wait. I have slim hopes that they will assign us a date sometime tomorrow, but if that doesn't happen I will proceed with the expedite request.

I hope everyone has a good week at the NVC this upcoming week. For those that are waiting for case numbers to be assigned or fees to be invoiced or documents to be reviewed or interviews to be assigned I hope we all make positive steps towards completing this long journey.

As far as I know, NVC only forwards the expedite request to the consulate/embassy, not the entire case.

And if you do request an expedite, good luck to you!

I think he's calling the correct number because that's the same number he used to call when we got our son's case no. He tried calling again today and he told me that the automated system is still down. He's calling from a mobile phone.

I see. At least now I know they know who calls regularly. I'll tell my husband about that. He's using a mobile phone. Last week all he was hearing was ringing but now it says that the system is down. I'm wondering what could be wrong.
