You are not supposed to send the DS-230 before paying the invoice, because you do not have the barcoded cover sheet for your package. You will get a checklist, and have to now mail them the barcoded sheet. You have probably delayed your case by a week at the least.

I already received a checklist with the barcoded cover sheet asking for the payment, i attached it with the ds 230

well it contains the same information, it contains your case number so i dont think i will have problems with that, and just called nvc and they said they saw it in the system that i already paid the IV. The only difference between the barcode sheet is the checklist says ATTN: DR the one after you pay is ATTN: CMR, same address, different person/department.

Just called NVC and CASE COMPLETE!!!!!!!!!

Happy Friday everyone!!!!!

hahah friday the 13 is pretty good for me :)

Grats!! kicking.gif

Just paid the IV, the price went down from $404 I only paid $230.

Good to know it's $230 and not $305.

Random question for you guys... I know this is the NVC thread, but is there a way for me to be certain that the consulate received my application from NVC (short of paying an exorbitive fee to call the consulate's number)? Would DOS know? I've heard of people having their file lost in transit, so I want to find out as soon as possible if there's a problem!

DOS would definitely know as they have access to the consulate/embassy's database. That's how I found out my case was received by NVC.

I sent the IV package a week before my payment because I sent it from APO address (overseas) I found out that they received it because it shows on the USPS website. it was delivered today 11 AM.

You can send documents even if its not paid yet, NVC will review everything. But case will not be completed if you missed a payment. You can send a DS 230 even if its not yet paid, but NVC will not schedule interview/complete the case until you submit all paperworks and payment.

I would NEVER ever ever recommend sending a package before the respective bill is paid.

First off, you need the bar-coded cover sheet from the payment portal which is only available after paying the bill. You might have had a checklist bar-code but still. I truly hope this doesn't delay your case at all and they'll accept your IV package without problems.

For everyone else, do not follow and send packages before the bill is paid no0pb.gif Wait until you pay the bill and it appears as PAID before sending the respective package yes.gif

Thank you for all the positivity!

So, do you think I'll have to wait until the second week of May to get an interview date? I know that it's a supposed to be a myth and that they schedule all month, but it did seem like a lot of people got interview dates this week...

I sure hope not, but my hopes of getting a May interview date are slipping away. What will really piss me off is if there are available dates in May (or even April) but that the NVC will wait until next month to schedule interviews. This is the government we are dealing with after all and on top of that a branch of the government that isn't known for it's efficiency so it wouldn't surprise me if they have a policy where they only schedule interviews during a specific time frame each month.

If I haven't heard anything by Monday I will most likely proceed with requesting an expedite due to NVC error causing a delay in our case. The Santiago Embassy told me via email that they can usually move up interview dates, but they can't do anything until they have the case.

Who out there had a case complete during the first week of April (or before) that do not have an interview date yet? I know Rujby is still waiting. Are there others?

I just wonder if my wife would have been given case complete last week if we would have the interview date now. I thought the 7 month wait at the USCIS was bad, but this feels worse, to be so close to the finish line and be held up by something so ridiculous.

1. It can be filled out the normal way. That's what I did for ALL my forms and had zero problems. Why an operator suggested that, I don't know. But remember, just because ONE operator said that, doesn't mean ALL of them will. It's just the opinion of one. Whenever you have a question like that, I always suggest asking a minimum of FIVE operators as their answers will almost always vary.

2. Follow what the country-specific documents want. Some want specifically originals, some want specifically certified copies, etc. Some countries aren't picky. For Canada, you can send either or. If you have the option, I suggest sending certified copies. Originals you can't replace, but you can always get more certified copies. I personally sent certified copies of both my birth certificate and our marriage certificate. Had no problems.

3. On the FAQ, I wrote a question about translations. According to NVC, if the documents are in the official language of the country where you'll be having your interview, then no, you don't need to translate them. BUT! Just because they may not be needed, I ALWAYS recommend sending in translations as I have seen people get checklists for not having documents translated. If you have the translations, then definitely send them along with the original/certified copies of your certificates.

Thank you so much, Lindsay...:) i had to convince my husband abt writing in normal ways ..we both almost got headaches :P this form makes us sweaty a lot lol. thanks again. it's very helpful :)
