Hi everyone!

We received the hard copy of our NOA2 the other day (woohoo!) so now we are starting to gather everything for the NVC process. No case number from NVC yet (I phoned them today but was basically told to buzz off and wait for the magic 15 business days from our NOA2 date to phone back) Anyway, I have a number of dumb questions.... hopefully this is the right place to put them

1. I (petitioner) live with my husband in the UK. For the DS3032 form - can my husband still put me as the agent or does it have to be someone in the US? My Dad will be our joint sponsor and he has also said he can pay the various fees from his checking account (as I don't have a checking account in the US). So should we make my dad the agent on the DS3032?

2. My dad is retired, but he doesn't have a traditional pension with a regular monthly payment - his retirement fund is all in stocks that pay dividends. The annual income he receives from these is more than enough to be the joint sponsor, but does anyone think there will be an issue with this as it's not a traditional or regular source of income?

3. Lastly, the income my dad gets is enough to support himself, my mom and my husband. Therefore, does my mom still need to complete the I-864a because they file their taxes jointly?

Sorry for all these questions, and I hope they make sense... I tried to look through the thread here for answers, but my brain started to fry...

Grats! Don't forget to update your signature ;)

Did you get the IIN and BIN? Did you give both email addresses over?

Grats on your recent approval! Give it at least one week before contacting NVC.

1. It doesn't matter who is selected as agent, whether it's someone in the US or not. I've even heard of beneficiaries electing themselves as an agent, so it really doesn't matter. As long as NVC has both your email addresses, all correspondence will be sent by email to you both, so the DS-3032 is kind of moot at that point.

2. I can't really say for that. It should be okay, but I'd call up NVC and inquire about this. Make sure you call at least five times as operators vary with answers.

3. Nope, if your mother isn't contributing her income, then no need for her to file a form. You just need to fill out an I-864 and so does your dad. That's it for forms.

And don't apologize for asking questions no0pb.gif As long as you read the first post with all the links I put together as well as the FAQ I wrote, then you're good to go. No need to read all the other posts as it might take you awhile laughing.gif

LOL...THAT would go something like this: run to VJ, trip over feet, smash nose into SOMETHING (because I'm clumsy like that), grab Kleenex, and finish my run to VJ :P

I just talk to my wife, she said she is going to scan them instead she was not able to drive back to home and stayed at work a coupld of minutes. The baby went down to her belly so she could not even walk out the office and get in her Car.

Praying for you and your wife, Rujby.

Called NVC for the first time today. The guy just told me to wait 15 days after the USCIS approval before calling. Wouldn't even tell me whether our case has been received or not.

Wow. Doesn't matter - call them again tomorrow anyway.

I finally got my NVC case number today  Now we get things moving.

Yes! Progress!good.gif

Puzzled: yesterday morning, an agent told me my DS-230 packet was being reviewed. Last night, and again this morning, the agents asked when did I send the packet (I told them when it was delivered to them). They then said "It takes 15 days to process and update your case ma'am".

Have they stopped giving updates? It sounds like they didn't even LOOK at my file!!!headbonk.gif

I hate the inconsistency of operators. That's why you need to call a few times and take the majority of their answers, as they always vary headbonk.gif

LOL...the life of someone moving to the US is never boring, is it? :)

After my interview I said to hubby, now I have to start a new list. Him ? All the things we have to do to get our belongings, our vehicles, our cat(s) into the US

Focus...focus...focus...May 7...May 7...May 7...ok got it!

I'll call just before I wake Trav up tonight (we stay up late, and he works a very demanding job so he naps until I get home from work each day lol). Then, our date night can begin! :D

Sounds like you two have this long distance relationship working. Modern technology certainly helps. We are lucky and have never had to long distance date which was why the domicile issue was a pain as the government are trying to separate you before you can be together.
