I'm not totally convinced that NVC expedite helps people all that much... I got through in a month, while some people doing the expedite process seem to get hung up on the expedite paperwork. Maybe I'm imagining that though! Now, if NVC expedite could assure you a quick interview, THEN it would be worth it without a doubt!

I should go to rehearsal as every saturday but there will be a crossade so the rehearsal is postponed for nex friday. I enjoyed talking to my wife all day, we had fun talking about the process, post offices, copying documents and all the other stress.

nica - here's some cool stuff about expedites @ NVC for Haiti -

NVC sees the calendar for the IV Unit in Haiti,

and normally just pegs the casefiles in the order that they come out of the final review process.

An expedite request @NVC is forwarded on to the IV Unit at an Embassy, and the Embassy IV Unit approves it or denies it.

Once it's approved, the IV Chief his own self at that Embassy (sometimes the Vice Chief) puts the casefile into the calendar.

Usually, when an expedited casefile is scheduled, it's squeezed in to the current caseload.

Rujby's gonna wait another 2.5 to 3 months from NOW till his interview date, unless he talks his wife into properly requesting an expedite at NVC (even with case complete @ NVC).

It's ok - one of the benefits of a Monthly NVC Thread is that people bond together, share joys and commmiserate with the miseries of the wait - it's cool and all - but ..

He decided not to go through with an expedite early last month.

I can't possibly imagine why.

It's ok, though - he's already said that:

1. he doesn't understand me and

2. he'll never follow my advice. .

I'm cool with that, really.

What I'm not cool with is his constant whining about having a pregnant wife without any expedite request lobbed into NVC. Starting the process is dead easy, his wife NEVER made that phone call.

Oh, yikes... you're right, I totally didn't understand the Haiti part of this. So for him, expediting at NVC DOES speed up the interview scheduling process? I don't know how anyone could pass that up!

A note for Nerds (Like Me! LOL!)

All right moving here as well until I get that "mighty" email with Interview Date. By the way, has anybody played with the DHL tracker for cases being forwarded from NVC to their respective Embassies/Consulates?

I was playing with it and noticed that there is an Airway Bill generated with each case that is shipped out of NVC. Now, if NVC operators are able to tell you by looking at their screens on which date was your case forwarded to the Embassy (because they actually can), can they also tell you the Airwill Bill Number?

That way you will be 100% sure when your package makes it overseas ... any comments?

2. DoS Hotline knows all casefile status once the casefile has left NVC.

The 'official' casefile status that's most meaningful to folk is:

'casefile opened at the IV Unit'

So, if'n yer really truly nerdy (like me)

you've got yer speed dial programmed for the DoS Hotline.

It's a call center for the Deparment of State - they handle casefile inquiries on VISAs

from the timetick of

'NVC left'

to

'Visa Packet Sent'

there's some timeticks inbetween, you betcha.
