... hence the sometimes intolerant comments I see sometimes in response news articles discussing immigration, legal or illegal. Many people never think that one day THEY may be a stranger in someone else's country!

I agree - there are some risks not worth taking, because the consequences of failure are SO dire and FINAL. It's really best to try to prepare, present the best case you can, and settle down for the long haul knowing that the process won't last forever.

good.gif

How true is this! It never made sense to me, how people could be so intolerant and cruel. If we all think about it, I'd say 99 percent of us had ancestors who immigrated at one point or another - and yet so many people can be unable at the same time to look past their own immediate lives. In a lot of ways, today's society is very "me me me, now now now"...it's sick.

And you're exactly right - some risks are NOT worth taking. Preparation is key.

His parents/aunts/uncles etc...wow, they're all incredible people, but I've never seen anything like the united front they put up when they see a need! It's amazing and humbling.

And I love your daily reminders about the expedite approval :D They make me smile!

I keep you reminding you so you'll BELIEVE it, and then it will come true yes.gif

Expedite approval at the end of the week :D

I also have a supportive extended family and every time I see one of them they want to know when my wife and step-daughter will be here. They are always shocked when I tell them what we have gone through and what we have yet to go through to complete the immigration process. The average USC has no idea what it takes to legally immigrate to this country.

I hope you are able to get through the remaining steps very soon so that you can finally be with your significant other.

No kidding. Every time I talk to people here in the US and explain that it took me 9 months to get here, they're flabbergasted. I constantly hear: "But you married a US citizen! That makes you one!" I then have to laugh and explain that's not how it works, that I have to get a visa first, then I get a green card after moving, then remove the conditions after 2 years, and can only apply for citizenship after living here for 3 years. Let's just say, they all look like this after: ohmy.gif

OK, got it. Here's how: I typed in my signature again, then selected all of it and removed all formatting (by clicking the AA icon on the top left of the post box). THEN separated out the resulting plain text paragraph back into lines. Got my signature back.good.gif

Thanks Saylin!

Glad you figured it out! The formatting has a lot of HTML associated with it, so it takes up a lot of room. That's why I ended up putting my signature into a picture, greatly reducing my lines, so I have enough room for when ROC comes around for me next year. Plus, the picture is pretty :D

Why not have that feeling now? Close your eyes, imagine calling DOS and getting your interview date. Imagine telling all of us here of your interview date. Imagine telling your wife the good news.

You imagine that every possible moment, and your interview date will be assigned quicker than you can believe.

I love my in-laws. After Riley yelled at me on Monday, they all got spurred into action. It seems they are ALL writing letters to the congressman about the inappropriate behavior of some NVC ops, and the errors in our file causing delays. Doesn't matter if nothing comes of any of the letters...it's nice to feel like so many wonderful people have your back :D

That's awesome!!!

Isn't that true?! When I started dating Trav, he had friends who would just say "oh, just come down here, get married and don't go back - that's all you need to do." Yeah, that's all you need to do if you figure you look good in prison gear awaiting deportation!

It IS true... i had no clue until after i got married and even then, i thought the USCIS step was the only step... silly me for not reading more into it at the time... and most people don't know that there is a process to coming here legally... the ones that have an idea, don't think it takes as long as it does... my mom was telling me that back when she filed a petition for my dad ~26 years ago, that it was just one petition she filed, submitted a bank statement, he had his interview, and he was here after only 2 months!!! talk about simple and quick!!! lol... i was telling her of all the stages there are now, the number of forms to fill, all the other documents and paperwork to submit, and then all the fees and she couldn't believe it... times have changed ALOT!!! my dad thought i was doing something wrong with the filing because it was taking longer than a couple of months...LOL

So, I want you to close your eyes, imagine getting an email from NVC, saying your expedite was approved. That your case is being sent to Montreal as we speak. Imagine getting another email, saying your interview is for May. Imagine talking to Trav about the excellent news. Imagine telling your entire supportive family that your expedite was approved and your interview is in May. Imagine coming onto the forums and telling us the amazing news. Imagine Sheeshka's awesome emoticons in response! Can you feel the excitement now? Are you feeling good? :)

...and I have to say, you should have SEEN his mom's letter to congress...that's one unhappy lady! :o

That's awesome that you're starting to see it! Do NOT get disheartened, if you do, then things will fall apart. Wouldn't you rather have an expedite approval? If so, imagine those good feelings, and all the good emails you're going to get, and it WILL happen! Get excited cause an approval is coming your way ;)
