Hey my husband does calibrations...and his company does everything!!! You must expect a turn around of 3-5 business days though...but we might be able to expedite due to the fact that its time sensitive equipment!!!

Saylin from what i've seen recently, interviews are scheduled early to late afternoon. Have you ever seen someone get a date assigned after 7pm? I have been paying special attention to this in like the last month and I can't say i've seen any but since you see so many I figured I'd ask you.

And, congrats on all the interviews assigned today.

If I remember correctly, there was a Canadian VJ member, that got their interview really late, like 11:30pm, around the same time I was in NVC.

I need your help. I applied for both my parents and NOA1 for each of them was received on 10/17/2011. For my mom, I received I-797 from CSC by the mail - notice date 03/30/2012. I have not received any email notification prior even though I have signed for this on USCIS site. I checked the USCIS site for the status of my mom's petition and, surprisingly, according to USCIS her case is still in initial review (even now). I also called USCIS and checked the status on both my parent's cases - according to the automated system, both cases have been approved and I-797 were sent. Then I spoke with customer service representative and I was told that my mom's case is shown approved in the system but there was not a good explanation on why I was not notified by email or on my cell phone. So I waited for my father's approval, which was received yesterday (notice date: 04/16/2012) and today I called NVC to see if they have received the cases. The woman on the phone told me that neither case is showing yet in their system. I am more concerned with my mom's case since it was sent to NVC at the end of March; my concern is also how it is possible to be shown still in "Initial Review" in USCIS?

I appreciate your advices!

Don't worry about it being in "Initial review" still on USCIS. There will always be the occasional case where it just doesn't update properly on the site. Technology isn't perfect.

If you look at my spreadsheet, NVC is currently assigning case numbers to NOA2 dates around 3/16. So, for the 3/30 case, you should have a number assigned probably next week.

This thread deals more with IR/CR-1 for spouses. A parent visa follows a different path at NVC.

Actually, no, the parent visa (IR-5) follows the EXACT same path as the IR-1/CR-1 visa. The ONLY thing that's different is that the petitioner needs to include their birth certificate, current marriage certificate (if applicable), and past marriage certificates (if applicable). Everything else is the same.

I just received my NOA2 on April 4th and currently waiting for a case number.

1) Should I have my beneficiary wife send me the documents now, including the DS-230? Or do I have to wait until the I-864 and DS-230 fees are paid?

2) Are the I-864 and DS-230 that are available after payment different from the ones that are currently available for download?

I just want to get things done asap. Thank you in advance.

Yes, it's a good idea for the beneficiary to send things now to save time later. And NVC won't know if the beneficiary sends you documents

And the only way to get the forms is to get the ones available for download. NVC doesn't send you the forms. Not the DS-230 anyways. I never got the AOS package from NVC, so I don't know.

We just got our interview date!!! May 14th in Montreal!!

My crystal ball says....

You shall get expedite email after your IV bill on Friday. At the latest Monday. The crystal ball has a +/- of a business day. I have to have it re-calibrated. It's hard to find a crystal ball re-calibrater in this day and age, you know.

Well, a bit more good news! Official word from NVC operator Donna is that our AOS has been accepted, we're just waiting on the fee bill which she believes will be released Friday. Phew! Now if that expedite would be approved I'd be even more relieved!

Trying to keep that in mind As it turns out - my message to the congressman wasnt' the only one sent today. Trav sent one (as I mentioned earlier), AND his mom just now sent a very strongly worded one too! I dont' know if it'll help but I feel VERY supported...it's nice to not be alone in this

Even though we all know congressman/senators can't 'expedite' a case, they can poke and prod USCIS/NVC and make them hurry it along a little bit.

I have no doubt that we'd still be in a black hole at CSC if my congressman hadn't done something.

I wonder if the poking and prodding could potentially help them move along an already submitted expedite request - after all, I did copy the congressman on my original expedite request too (CYA, baby ) Coincidentally, it also turns out that the letter NVC gave the congressman was part of the expedite request - the name and address errors were not only evident on my file, they were included in the letter NVC wrote the congressman...good job, NVC!

e. Photocopy of the biographic data page of the beneficiary's passport

f. Original/Certified birth certificate of the beneficiary

g. Original/Certified marriage certificate of the beneficiary and the petitioner

h. Original police certificate(s) of the beneficiary

k. 1 set Photocopy of all the above civil documents

QUESTIONS:

e. Should the photocopy be certified or notarized?

f,g. Do you recommend my beneficiary wife send me the ORIGINAL from Indonesia? I'm just afraid of it getting lost in the mail somehow.

What do they mean by CERTFIIED? How is that exactly done? Is that the same as NOTARIZED?

h. I emailed the US Embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia. They replied that a police certificate is not required. But yet, it lists it here.

Should I wait for the NVC to send me a checklist? Or should I just tell my beneficiary wife to DO or NOT DO the police certificate?

k. What exactly does this mean? Do they mean an EXTRA copy of everything listed in the IV Packet according to this guide?

e. The photocopy doesn't need to be certified or notarized. Just a simple photocopy will suffice.

f,g. It has to either be the original or certified copy of each of the certificates. The original means the FIRST one created, certified copies just mean copies of the original that are certified. There can really only be one original, but you can get hundreds of certified copies. To get certified copies, you'd have to go to the issuing agency of the certificate. If you can get certified copies, I'd suggest sending those instead and keep the original safe.

h. According to: http://travel.state.gov/visa/fees/fees_5455.html?cid=9216#docs for Indonesia, there are no PCCs. So, in your case, you won't need one. I would suggest writing a paragraph on the cover letter stating so, sourcing their own site. I'd then suggest printing out that page (just the police records part, not the entire thing) and include it in the IV package as proof no PCC is needed.

k. It means a photocopy of the birth certificate and the marriage certificate (and divorce and military, if applicable). Again, the photocopies do not need to be certified or notarized. Just simple photocopies will suffice.

Well we are July fillers and today finally we got the interview date!!!

May 23th is the day!

Just wanted to share and give some hope to the ones still waiting...long process but worth it...the big prize is coming...our loved ones living with us!
