OK. I'll call at about 8 tonight. Our AOS was straightforward, there should be NOTHING in it to cause a checklist. I mean really...come on now... lol

Ya, you'll be fine. The checklist I got was stupid.

Once a supervisor got a hold of the whole thing, she said that yes, my I-864 was filled out wrong (marking employed as a student) but that shouldn't have generated a checklist since I had 0.00 for income and included tax transcripts for 2011. She said as soon as the person saw I had 0.00 for current income, they should have went straight to the joint sponsors paperwork. And their stuff was fine. She apologized for the confusion and delay and said she'd fix everything right away. (8:30am)

At 12:30 I came home to find the case complete email, it was sent at 11:27am.

Your lawyer is wrong. NVC is currently holding all IV invoices until April 13th. They'll then "release" them with the new, lower fee.

By the time you have a case number, submit the DS-261 and have it approved, it'll be after the 13th, so your IV invoice will be for $305.

I have to wonder now, does your lawyer even know about EP and online forms for Mexico cases?

I really hope she does. Maybe she misunderstood what I was asking.

If she didn't misunderstand you, I'd suggest verifying everything here first. Sounds like this might be another uninformed lawyer...

This is just my personal opinion but I find pretty patethic that a so called "Lawyer" who is suppossed to know the ins and outs of this process, in fact, is not informed of how something so basic as new fees could affect the "pocket" of one of his/her clients. Oh Lord! Money Money Money! It's all about the Money!

Citizenship

6/24/2016: Mailed N-400 package via USPS from Naval Base Yokosuka, Japan

7/11/2016: Received NOA1 dated 7/5/2016

11/3/2016: Received email from USCIS-Seoul Office with Naturalization appt set for 11/30/2016

11/30/2016: Naturalization Interview on Naval Base Yokosuka, Japan. N-400 Approved

12/1/2016: Naturalization Ceremony

Maybe the lawyer knows about the fees, but just wants $404 from the petitioner and keep the $99 difference when she only pays $305 to NVC...
