Immigrant Visa fees are decreasing by $100.00 and non-immigrant fees are increasing by $100.00

Seriously? I thought for sure it would be an increase! I just did a few Google searches but can't find any info on this...can someone please tell me what exactly is decreasing? The original app fee? (Unfortunately, if that's what it is, it's too late for most of us...) The IV fee as well? Any other fees decreasing?

But I'm still a bit confused, does the "discount" only apply to the IV processing fee? Also is it for sure that all people who haven't been invoiced yet will get the new lower fee, or could we still be invoiced for the current fee?

When I call DOS the operator man rambles on and on at the beginning. Does anyone know how bypass him and directly speak to a live person?!

It's only for the IV fee. If you haven't been invoiced yet, you will get invoiced after the 13th with the new fee. so $230.00 fee + $74.00 surcharge= $304.00. Was $404.00

The rest of us that have already been invoiced are outta luck.

Actually, when I call lately I only have to hit 1. They've disabled the AVR, I thought. At any rate, hit 1 really really fast. That tends to shut him up

Yes, in theory, they will 're-invoice' those that have not paid yet.

Call back and talk to another rep. make sure to ask for the Invoice Identification Number, not IIN.

EXACTLY 30 days after CC, finally an interview date scheduled for 17 MAY 2012 8AM...holly cow, Thought it'll EVER happen! Lisa in DOS confirmed that and was kinda surprised they didn't issue it last Friday, what ever that supposed to mean. she said they are probably busy in Casablanca and that why it took longer..Anyway, email to follow, should be getting it late afternoon. My wife is thrilled but we both overcome the excitement. On hold with NVC to re-confirm (5 minutes).

This will always vary by consulate/embassy. You'll have to search around for others from your country and study their timelines. This what I did for Canada to get an estimate on my own time frames.

Like others have said, and you found out, the fees for the IV are DECREASING. Instead of $330, it's going down to $230. The surcharge of $74 is staying the same. So, instead of paying a total of $404, as of Friday, you'll be paying $304.

The decreases (or increases) are only those for visa application fees (DoS fees). The petition fees (like the I-130) is staying the same. USCIS is not changing their fees at the moment.

The change of fees will only affect the IV fee in your case. And there have been a few operators that have confirmed that all IV invoiced are currently on hold until this Friday when the change occurs. So, you'll be invoiced for $304, not $404.

If you press 1 as soon as you hear the guy talking, it'll skip the 5 minute long speech he recites. Then once you get to the next menu, hit 0 to speak with an operator, or as they call them "visa specialists".

Grats on getting your case number! Call back asap and ask for the "Invoice Identification Number". If the operator refuses, just hang up and try again. Some operators are fussy about giving out the number
