Good Morning All!!! Hope everyone had an awesome easter weekend.

Question about docs. for the visa interview. I have seen that they ask you bring in the AOS packet? I sent them in

tax transcripts that I requested from the IRS with my AOS packet, however I did not make copies

Should I request these documents from the IRS again for the interview?

Thanks

Not sure where you're reading that, but no, those that do snail mailing of packages, are not required to bring the AOS package as the consulate/embassy will already have it when NVC sent the case to them. There is no NEED to bring them.

Do I still recommend it? Yes. I brought a copy of EVERYTHING (and I mean everything) as well as what was required.

If not May it'll be June for SURE. Keep in mind that you could get a late May interview if someone cancelled their interview. However, you still have 'til April 16th for the definitive answer as they still assigning interviews.

Technically, you have everyday to find out as they schedule interviews all month long. Again, mine was scheduled on the 25th, in the fourth week. That's after the 16th :P

I just called NVC, and was informed our case closed today!

Grats on your case complete! kicking.gif

I woke up this morning to some good news. I had an email from SantiagoImmigration@state.gov in reply to an email I sent them last week about divorce certificates in Chile. I sent them a scanned copy of the divorce decree I sent to the NVC to confirm that it was the correct document. The NVC rejected the document last week and issued a checklist for the IV packet. Here is what the email said:

Mr. Rogers:

Thank you for your email. You are right. The divorce decree you are sending is ok. This is how divorce decrees looks like in Chile. It is very strange as the NVC is familiar with the certificates.

We will contact the NVC to confirm that the certificate you are sending is correct.

Sincerely,

Immigrant visa unit

Santiago, Chile

Hoping to get case closed for my wife today so she and my step-daughter can get their interviews scheduled in the next few days.

Glad to see some progress on your case! Hopefully NVC will issue you a case complete TODAY.

I am not going to read all those previous pages.

I called again today Got Madea or someone with a similar name to answer she was quite nice. But still no record of NVC receiving the case yet.

Looking at my spreadsheet, you're coming up this week for a case number yes.gif

I am probably wrong, but something does not sound right here. It is one thing for them to not have it entered in the system (no case#) but for them to not have received the case is a little strange. I would speak to a supervisor if possible.

Nothing's wrong at all. My case was assigned a case number on the very exact day it was "received". Nothing to worry about at all.

Trust me, the lady is wrong headbonk.gif She's obviously forgetting about the surcharge of $74 when she says "saving $200". Unless they're eliminating the surcharge which I highly doubt, as it would have been mentioned in the fee changes.

And yay, I CANNOT wait for a picture! *excited*

Well, I guess any discount is better than a kick in the teeth! :P

Yeah, I remember when my husband would just visit for just a weekend and then have to fly back home. Always the saddest day *hugs*

It was actually the easiest "see you soon" yet, but that could be because the interview will be coming up hopefully by July! Yeah, I can't get over how everyone that meets this guy loves him to pieces, and it makes me miss him that much more. Hurry up, NVC!!

Have you tried calling DOS this morning?

I'm buying into the theory that the NVC operators don't have access to up to the minute information. There is clearly a disconnect between the NVC operators and the officers, they probably even work on isolated systems. It seems they send out updates around 4pm EDT, so work that was completed in the morning will not reflect on their computers until after 4pm EDT.

I'm planning to call NVC after 4pm this afternoon and if they haven't cleared up this BS with the divorce decree I will insist to speak to a supervisor. NVC can't tell me it will take 20 days to review when the mistake was made by them. Now that I have the backing of the Embassy I feel empowered to be more forceful with them regarding this issue.

Good, I'm glad some people got their interview dates :-)

I was gonna say in a few days, but I remember Shell mentioned that an operator said that all IV invoices were on hold until the 13th when the new fees are in effect. So, it'll either be this Friday (if they're fast about it), or next week.

Well, I guess any discount is better than a kick in the teeth! :P

It was actually the easiest "see you soon" yet, but that could be because the interview will be coming up hopefully by July! Yeah, I can't get over how everyone that meets this guy loves him to pieces, and it makes me miss him that much more. Hurry up, NVC!!

Yeah, $100 is still $100. Better than nothing, I suppose!

And the same thing happened to me with my husband's last visit in March. We were a week away from a CC (didn't know that at the time of course), and 2 months out from an interview, so I knew I'd see him soon. Still cried a little as I went back to the parking lot after seeing him off at the airport.

If you get that expedite approved, you'll be getting an interview way before July.

After numerous phone calls and three emails and finally talking to a supervisor at NVC this morning, I came home from my son's doctor appointment to this email:
