Divorce was made legal in Chile within the last 10 years or so. So while it is relatively new in Chile I'm sure my wife isn't the first person to have to submit a divorce decree from Chile. The Reciprocity Table for Chile on visa.state.gov doesn't have an example of this document, not sure why because they have examples of all the other required documents like marriage, birth and police certificates. I wouldn't be surprised if the NVC doesn't have an example of it either so instead they just use their best judgement.

Not what I meant....remember when they update a layout of a certification? and it look completely different with a new design and signatures? it could be that NVC didn't have that model of certification. But still, I do think that you should call and ask for a sup to expedite the process as it is NVC fault and not yours! I'm interested to know how long it'll take to get a confirmation from the embassy. I WOULD definitely forward the email you received from the Embassy to the NVC inquiry email and explain the situation. won't hurt really.

I replied to the email I received this morning and asked if they would be contacting the NVC regarding my specific case and this is the reply I just received a few minutes ago:

We have already contacted the NVC referring to your specific case number and confirming the validity of the document you submitted.

Sincerely,

Immigrant visa Unit

Santiago, Chile

I'm planning to call in to the NVC in a few hours if I haven't heard anything before then. As long as we can get an early May interview I will be happy. That gives us enough time to arrange travel plans so I can be at the embassy with my wife and step-daughter for their interview and then accompany them back to the US a week or so later (assuming they are approved).

I just called NVC, and was informed our case closed today!

CONGRATS!! Hopefully you won't have to wait long for an interview!

Happy Monday everyone!

**Sigh**, I am here sipping on a nice hot cup of 100% Colombian, silky coffee while I await the AOS Checklist via email...

Ahh...jealous of the coffee. You'd think being neighbors with Brazil we could get some decent coffee up in Paraguay but nope, all we got is instant. Yuck. Anyway, happy Monday :D

I woke up this morning to some good news. I had an email from SantiagoImmigration@state.gov in reply to an email I sent them last week about divorce certificates in Chile. I sent them a scanned copy of the divorce decree I sent to the NVC to confirm that it was the correct document. The NVC rejected the document last week and issued a checklist for the IV packet. Here is what the email said:

Mr. Rogers:

Thank you for your email. You are right. The divorce decree you are sending is ok. This is how divorce decrees looks like in Chile. It is very strange as the NVC is familiar with the certificates.

We will contact the NVC to confirm that the certificate you are sending is correct.

Sincerely,

Hoping to get case closed for my wife today so she and my step-daughter can get their interviews scheduled in the next few days.

That's great news!! Glad it all got sorted out, way to be on top of it.

I guess they are taking their Royal time with geting our week of NOA2's over to NVC. Seems like we'd be waiting together here too buddy.

I also called this am and got and indian lady who told me give it 2-4weeks but in 2 days i will be scanning my NOA2 to NVC like an operator told me to last week after 15 business days have past. Maybe they are waiting for the fee change to give us our case numbers and bills, Hmmmmmm. Oh well hopefully this week is our week.

Dimples,

I sent the transcripts for the same years to the NVC, still I ordered online a set of new transcripts (for the same years) that I will be taking to the interview with me just in case. In theory, it shouldn't be necessary, but as I have seen these docs requested again as part of financial evidence in some interviews, it won't hurt to take them with me again. Maybe I won't even need them, but it doesn't cost me anything to take them (except the space of the paper bulge).

Regards!

Thanks I am going to request them!!!

Hoping to get case closed for my wife today so she and my step-daughter can get their interviews scheduled in the next few days.

That's great news!! I've had horrible communication with the Santiago Embassy and they haven't been helpful at all, but it's great to see that in your case, they are actually look for solutions. I hope you get it sorted out soon!

I got some good news too.....the DS3032 that my hubby sent by email was accepted today! Now waiting for the invoicing of the IV....

NVC said they do not forward a case to embassy until a interview date is set. I guess it is worthless calling this morning as my last call was friday, i doubt they send my package yet to the embassy.

Of course they haven't sent your package yet. An interview date is assigned FIRST. Only after an interview date has been assigned, usually the next day, will the case be sent abroad.

Keep calling every day, NVC and DOS.

Yeah, I don't know. I am pretty sure you're right but the person on the phone specifically said "saving $200" so...I won't get my hopes up that they're right. I've learned enough to know you usually know more than they do :P (What a delay in response time though, eh? :) )

And, haven't ironed the shirts yet but probably will today. I'll take a pic when they're done! :)

Trust me, the lady is wrong headbonk.gif She's obviously forgetting about the surcharge of $74 when she says "saving $200". Unless they're eliminating the surcharge which I highly doubt, as it would have been mentioned in the fee changes.

And yay, I CANNOT wait for a picture! *excited*

Just sent the DS-230 Pt. 1 and 2 today. I forgot to attach the Police Clearance, 2x2 photos, birth cert. and marriage cert. Do I have to wait for the checklist or can send it right away like tomorrow? But I dont think I have to provide them with the marriage and birth certificate again, I already sent it with my I-130 package to USCIS so im pretty sure NVC has it already when they received the documents from USCIS. :help:

I wish you would have read some guides to know what's needed in the IV package. This will only delay you a week or so, but still.

I'd suggest waiting until they issue the checklist. Don't want to confuse NVC by sending in another package without them requesting it.

Yes, if you read the guides or the FAQ, you'd know you'd have to send in the original/certified copy of the marriage certificate as well as the original/certified copy of the beneficiary's birth certificate. What you sent to USCIS should have only been COPIES as stated in the I-130 instructions. Since you've sent the originals to them, I'd call up NVC and see if they received them from NVC. If not, you're going to have to either get more certified copies of the marriage and birth certificate, or fill out form G-884 (http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=dccb5d4c6608e010VgnVCM1000000ecd190aRCRD&vgnextchannel=db029c7755cb9010VgnVCM10000045f3d6a1RCRD )

Well, I'm not a super happy girl. Was a great visit but the weekend's over and Trav's in the air as we speak. I miss him painfully, already. Hope you all had wonderful weekends!

Yeah, I remember when my husband would just visit for just a weekend and then have to fly back home. Always the saddest day *hugs*

-You really don't care about NVC receiving the case but when they'll assign a case number. and lately it'll take up to 20 days.

-Yes both are issued the same time, you just have to push a little bit when you're requesting the CASE# and IIN#

-I would suggest 24 hours after a NVC# is issued. but you can send it right the way.

But first check if SK embassy require an EP or not.

Good answers good.gif

And EP nor online forms are available to those in South Korea.

Hi there everyone!

I'm back after a weekend away, and I'm happy to report that my AOS fee did get charged and paid...it showed up 4 days after payment on my bank website! So, things are moving along! Should I expect to get the invoice for the IV packet soon?

Anyone want to give me a summary of what happened these last couple of days? Did people get interview dates and/or any other good news?

Hope everyone has a great day....

Grats on your AOS finally appearing as PAID! For the IV, when was your DS-3032 accepted?

And there were a couple of interview dates assigned last week yes.gif
