Just called NVC to see if there was any update on my case. Took 17 minutes to get through. I wonder if they have a lot of people out on vacation today getting an early start on the holiday weekend. Very little hope at this point that we will get case closed by the end of this week. My biggest concern is that we will miss the party when they start issuing interview dates next week :(

If the review of the divorce document results in another checklist would it be possible to request that we provide the document at the time of the interview? I read of one member who was waiting on their PCC from Turkey and requested to bring it to the interview instead of waiting to get it and then send it to NVC. My concern is that it could take weeks to figure out the document they are looking for. The document we sent was accepted by USCIS and was confirmed by the Santiago Immigration Visa unit to be the correct document.

People have done that before. Most recently Laure. If they don't accept the divorce decree you sent, I'd do exactly that. Ask to be able to present the document to a CO at the consulate. The CO will know what documents need to look like for your country, a contracted desk jockey at NVC has no clue.

Matt I actually did this and just got a case complete. In our country many of the birth certificates only have the last name registered at birth. So NVC they requires that you have an orginal affidavit that has been notraized to accompany the birth certificate that list the First and Last name.

I have had an affidavitt done but the Registrar department managed to not have it in thier records. So I had to have a new affadivitt done last week but the registrar department in the Bahamas said they had a huge back log and I would not be able to have it recorded until another month.

I wrote a letter accompanying my birth certificate along with a copy of the unrecorded document(because I had to leave the orginal at the department in order for them to record it). I asked if I could just bring my recorded affidavit with me at the time of my interview. Guessing it is OK becuase Case Complete!!!

The CO will know what documents need to look like for your country, a contracted desk jockey at NVC has no clue.

The concern here is that they already received a checklist for it. Not sure if they'll be ok with bringing it to the interview once it's in the queue for supervisor review... Hopefully the supervisor will realize that it's all good.

If you want my opinion, NVC document intake is total BS. It adds a useless step and makes many people lose precious time because NVC reviewers have no clue about what civil documents look like in all countries in the world - how could they? As I understand, this step was meant to make things faster at the embassy level and avoid visas being temporarily refused for missing documentation, but it only causes a headache epidemic...

Matt I actually did this and just got a case complete. In our country many of the birth certificates only have the last name registered at birth. So NVC they requires that you have an orginal affidavit that has been notraized to accompany the birth certificate that list the First and Last name.

Well, Trav's on the road now, headed for the airport. FINALLY. :) If I can't get anywhere with NVC, at least I can have a few hugs :)

Yay!

Don't forget about those t-shirts :P

If my wife is already given the visa, do I have to be with her at the point of entry? Do I need to get her in Philippines? Ive heard that I need to sign documents at the POE and there will be a briefing with the immigration officer since she is holding a CR1 visa. My plan is I would like to wait for her here in the states.

No, you don't need to be with her at POE or get her in the Philippines. There's nothing the USC needs to sign at POE, only the beneficiary. She'll have to get her fingerprints done and possibly a picture taken. They'll then go over the DS-230 with her to make sure everything is correct, specifically the address where the GC will be sent too. They'll also explain ROC to her.

I went through my POE without my husband and was 100% fine.

Slept really good last night with the great news about the interview and all! Don't know who I'm gonna be bugging now though  , feels like I got alot of time on my hands all of a sudden.

Fingers crossed ya'll who are waiting on good news will get them today!

Right now, focus on having all documents ready for the medical. Then, once the medical is done, focus on all the documents you need/want to bring to the interview.

Times like these I wish they still had the AVR. It would be nice to talk to a computer just to hear Case Complete instead of sitting for 15 minutes to talk to a person.

Yeah, I really wish they would bring back the AVR :(

Email for the case complete??? Well I called this morning and they told me...At the same time I asked her about the interview date and she said they have to wait for the embassy info...

Only those doing EP get a case complete email. The next, and last, correspondence you're going to receive is the interview package from NVC.

So...I noticed I didn't fill out the Province either on this question...would it be ok, to WRITE IT IN, or do I have to type out a new form, send it to the hubby for signature again and have him send it back?

Also, while we're on the subject of leaving things blank, #23 & #28 (on DS230, parents deceased?) I left that blank. They aren't deceased. I tried to put N/A but the form said that was not a valid format...so, again, can I WRITE IN N/A?

Sorry if it all seems trivial...just trying to avoid RFE's...

Thanks!

You can hand-write it in, that's perfectly okay. I had to hand-write in an answer on the DS-230 and that was okay. Some people have long names and such that just don't fit in when typing it.

And yes, write 'N/A' in for that deceased question.

Called up DOS. The lady was quite nice (don't remember her name though), but she said the case is still with NVC. helpsmilie.gifhelpsmilie.gifhelpsmilie.gif

The case is gonna stay with NVC until they issue an interview date. And THEN it gets sent abroad.

Another question guys? Is there a way to track what priority date embassies are currently handling? Or are case at embassy handled by priority date? My priority date which included in the paper that nvc were sending to me is november 10th.

For IR-1/CR-1 visas, the priority date does NOT matter as there's an unlimited amount of visas available. Priority dates only matter for those applying for visas with a specific amount given out each year.

For interview dates, they assign by case complete date. So, all those that completed their case before you will get interview dates scheduled before you. The only exception is for expedite requests that get bumped to the very front of the line.

Today is really a good day, i just received my choice of agent acceptance email. Just need the IV invoice now so that I can pay both.

Checking the payment portal i see that the information has disappear for the IV which means i might get my invoice by today. yaaay me.

happy friday to us all. :D

Yay, grats on the acceptance! The IV should be invoiced early next week! yes.gif

An operator (Kelly) advised that the AOS needs to be corrected, but did not specify the problem. Will the e-mail Checklist indicate the error? Thanks

I'd suggest calling back and asking for the specific question that needs a correction.

But yes, of course, the checklist will specify what the error is.

Saylin i called NVc this morning and they said they got a checklist for my bangladesh police clearance.I told them i include it in PDf file then they said they saw the ppolice clearance but they have to fuss up with it to view(it was 6.15mp file, thats why i didnt reduce the size).Thats why i need to send it again.I didnt get the checklist email though.

What should i do now? wait for the checklist and then send the police clearance?Plz help :crying:

If that's the only thing that's needed in the checklist, then put a PDF together of the IV bar-coded cover sheet with the PCC behind it. Explain in the body that this is in response to a checklist. In the subject line, put your case number first and then 'IV Checklist'. Then call them up next week and ask if they've received your checklist response.

Hi guys!

Trying to be proactive here; can anyone shed some light as to what is in packets 3 & 4 please!

Packet 3 refers to K-1 visa applications. It's similar to a combined AOS and IV package, and gets sent directly to their consulate/embassy, not NVC. On our timelines, this will (or should be) left blank.

The packet 4 though refers to the interview letter package, so this line should get filled out after receiving the email from NVC.

Yes, you can try requesting that. I have seen it work in the past, recently with Laure who hadn't received her Turkish PCC, requested NVC to let her bring it to the interview, and it got accepted. Definitely worth a shot in your case.

You're normal. It should show paid sometime today. Mine took a day an a half, a full day after it cleared my bank.

Post offices are open, it's not a Federal Holiday. Some states declare it a state holiday, so some state offices are not open today.

Yes, you can try requesting that. I have seen it work in the past, recently with Laure who hadn't received her Turkish PCC, requested NVC to let her bring it to the interview, and it got accepted. Definitely worth a shot in your case.

Saylin FYI in regards to requesting for documents to be available at the time of the interview. I actually did this and they just closed my case. Just incase anyone else inquires..
