The medical is nothing. You get a check up, an xray and some blood taken. As long as you don't have some communicable disease, you'll be fine.

Still going to be nervous until it's done...been misdiagnosed twice so...

USCIS (192 days, August 24 2011 to March 2 2012. No RFE's).
NVC (30 days, March 12 to April 11. Case expedited due to NVC errors).

Montreal US Consulate, awaiting interview date (14 days, April 12 to April 26).

05/09/2012 - medical in Toronto - passed!
05/22/2012 - interview - passed!
05/25/2012 - visa in hand!!! biggrin.png
06/09/2012 - POE @ YWG (Winnipeg Int'l Airport)

Removal of Conditions submitted March 24, 2014, received March 26, 2014

"RFE" for page 3 of application received, date March 27, 2014. Package re-submitted with all papers re-attached.

04/07/2014 - NOA1 Date

05/07/2014 - Biometrics in Charlotte, NC

11/05/2014 - APPROVED! Citizenship in 5 months!

11/10/2014 - NOA2 in hand.

You never had a blood test before then? Oh wow. I'm jealous. I was misdiagnosed with something a few years back, and it meant three months of daily blood tests. The docs found out they were wrong and I stopped getting daily blood tests - YAY! Now I just say "aim here, that's the good spot..."

Yeah, the one at the medical, is still my first and only blood test. Never ever had one before, so I was extremely nervous, on top of being afraid of needles (and then finding out I needed a flu shot as well on the same day, same arm wacko.gif).

And wow blink.gif I would NOT have liked to been you. I HATE needles.

Yeah, I trusted my husband with paying the two bills, but that was it (well, the original sending of the I-130 petition too, I guess).

Yeah, I'd probably go to the medical and interview too if I was the petitioner.

Sometimes NVC requests for evidence, sometimes they don't. She should still get it though. And no, I don't think the doctor MUST write her a letter. But I don't work in the medical field, so I don't know how that works.

I was more nervous for my medical than the interview, only because I'm deathly afraid of needles. And getting my first ever blood test done. Ugh. *remembers nearly passing out*

Ok I see, my wife has a paper saying that she is under high risk pregancy, can we send it?

don't worry, I've been reading your wiki for a long time. My husband thinks I'm obsessed with this process, but hey - no RFE's and so far no real surprises (except that NOA2 took 6 months, wasn't planning on that one)

Have to jump on the bandwagon here re: bitching about husbands. Why does it seem like most of the people on this forum are women? I was shocked to discover that until about 3 months into the I-130 process, my husband didn't even know what our USCIS case number was, even though he knew I'd been checking on our case online. He also makes fun of the number of posts I've made on these forums. I honestly think that if he had to do it all himself, we'd still be double-checking forms for the I-130! :bonk:

It occurs to me sometimes that this immigration process is probably a terrible way to begin a marriage... I sometimes fantasize about letting go of the reigns entirely and just saying, "Well the rest is up to you. Check the forums if you have questions about what happens next or what phone numbers you should be calling. Good luck, honey!"

USCIS (221 days)
07-13-2011 -- I-130 sent
07-15-2011 -- I-130 NOA1 received in the mail
02-21-2012 -- I-130 NOA2 approved

NVC (26 days)
02-24-2012 -- NVC receives application
03-21-2012 -- Case completed at NVC

Consulate (50 days)

Ok I see, my wife has a paper saying that she is under high risk pregancy, can we send it?

First you have to request the expedite. Then, if evidence is required, you send it in. Darnell has already explained on what to do for applying for an expedite in the March thread.

Oh wow, that's not a fun day for you! :( You didn't really pass out did you? I'm going to guess you're not a tattoos/piercings kind of person then? :D

No, I didn't actually pass out, but was darn close to it. After I got my blood test and flu vaccine done, I got up, was a little woozy, and was instructed to sit back down. I then got a little glass of orange juice and, upon my request, a lollipop laughing.gif

I had my ears pierced when I was about 7, but it only lasted for about a day. Couldn't take the pain. I'd love to have earrings though headbonk.gif

And tattoos... yeah... I've got ideas already of what tattoos I want, but I don't have the guts at all to get them done. Even though my husband (who has 20+ tattoos) encourages me laughing.gif Perhaps one day, in the far, far future.

When I'm depressed (i.e. now), it occurs to me that we're already being taken for granted.

LOL! That's a funny observation - but you do seem to be right! In a lot of cases (not all, but a lot), it seems the women are the ones obsessing, preparing, documenting, etc, etc, etc...My husband, as sweet and lovely and wonderful as he is, hasn't got an organizational bone in his body. That's where I come in :D(L)

It occurs to me sometimes that this immigration process is probably a terrible way to begin a marriage... Think you're right...this process will either make or break you. It's not easy and certainly not for everyone. It's hard, but HOPEFULLY worth every second! And yeah, maybe after the interview's done I'll tell my husband the rest is all him until I POE :P

My husband thought the same thing about me. When I was going through this process, I was on VJ literally all day, from morning to night. But, it paid off as I was studying the process like crazy, from NVC onwards, and not once did we get an RFE, checklist, or anything. It was as smooth as it could be.

LOL So I'm not crazy for spending every waking minute (and some sleppin ones) on VJ. I am only in first stages but I need and want to know all I can. I mean I am dealing with Nigeria. And look at me talking with the NVC filers instead of over in the I-130 peoples (we kind of quiet over there. LOL).

We better not take each other for granted...my husband is in the habit of telling me how much he loves me and is so grateful I can handle the details he hasnt' got a mind for. He's pretty special, and so worth it :)

Nope, you're not crazy at all no0pb.gif If you are, then I'm even more crazy, since I'm still here after my process is over laughing.gif

And yeah, I remember the USCIS filers threads as being quite. But, it's understandable as you all wait around 5 months before anything starts to happen.

Sounds familiar laughing.gif I told my husband what he needed to scan and sign for the AOS package, then told him to send it all to me. I then digitally added the case numbers, put it in order, and emailed it off yes.gif
