It's 10 days if you take it to a Passport Canada office personally and pick it up in person when it's ready. MUCH longer if you mail it. My neighbor was able to get hers in 5 days, so maybe I'll be that lucky too! :)

Went and got the passport pictures done, finished filling out the application and printed it, had my neighbor come over and do the guarantor portion and I am ready to take it to the passport office tomorrow morning.

No progress on house front for us.

You are still the Queen of emoticons. And 3000  for the above. Are you Dr. Sheeshkabelle now?

And more  for Shell

Good luck! Selling a house sucks! I hate doing it!

Almost! When I started my pharm degree, one only needed a bachelor's, but it changed about 1998. Now the requirements are an associate in humanities, 2 years in chemistry and biology, and 3 years for the Dr. at the beginning of the name. For those who only had the Bachelor's, and people like me, that like to drag their feet, they have a 'bridge' to finish the PharmD.

I had a Regents in Applied Science of Paramedicine already, finished my bachelor's in Chemestitry. All the other previous Univeristy credits, from where I messed around for a few years not knowing what I wanted to do after high school, made up the 'bridge'. Now I have to take the one year of residency. Once that's done I will be Dr. Sheeshkabelle PharmD! In the mean time, I am a highly over educated Certified Pharmacy Tech.

Thank you very much, Saylin. I do want all those documents to be in my married name, so I'm going to get the passport application filled out this evening, go get the passport pictures done right now and hopefully take my application down to the passport office tomorrow afternoon. Mr. Sheeshka is a notorious procrastinator. His passport would have expired in May of this year. Our NOA2 was March 2nd.I yelled and nagged until he went to renew it... He renewed it about three days later at the passport office in Calgary. His passport was picked up 11 days later, including weekends. He had it before we even had a case number. You'll have plenty of time!

First, I am not a lawyer.

I imagine your lawyer is going to wait for the email from NVC. Since they are not the attorney on record, she may not get it.

That's an odd stipulation in a contract. But since it's there, it's there, with that being said, if you contact NVC and your lawyer finds out, he/she might get a little upset and terminate the contract, and you might end up owing them money.

First, call your lawyer and ask lots of questions. Check out the very first post to get ideas of what to ask. Usually the beneficiary will have to fill out a choice of agent designating an agent. I'm not sure how that works when a lawyer is handling the case.

If you do NOT call an operator at NVC, then, when a case number is assigned, they'll generate a package and send it to you. If they have an email address on file, they'll email it to you, otherwise it will be snail mail and can take awhile to receive. That's why I recommend to call. Lately, it's been taking NVC 3-4 weeks to assign a case number, so you probably won't get yours till early May.

Unless your case is not "normal" (ex: past criminal charges, overstay), I'd suggest dropping your lawyer as this process is completely feasible doing it on one's own, and is usually better as lawyers mess up because they're not up to date on processes, or they're slow at getting or sending information, etc.

Gad i read your montreal review.its very nice but your Co was mean.Anyway what does Loomis receipt means? Is it DHL sign up?

Loomis is DHL. A couple of months ago, they divided or renamed or something. So, DHL and Loomis, for Canada, is interchangeable.

Yeah, I figured mailing took awhile, just thought it'd be the same for walk-ins as well.

Glad you got everything done tonight and just need to drop it all off tomorrow at the office yes.gif You should have plenty of time before your IV is invoiced and appearing as PAID.

DHL went bankrupt. The Canadian part was bought by Loomis. This was marketed as a "strategic alliance",both names were kept.

you can contact NVC anytime.

Also, is yer lawyer gonna actually file via EP for your casefile at NVC, or no?

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Well, the case numbers that were just assigned the other day, all the NOA2 dates were like around 3/20. NVC is now taking about a month to get a case number. I suspect your friend will be getting their case number either this week or next.
