Nada. Nothing. SS will stay Socialized.

That's gonna be a huge setback for the Republican Party who has consistently pushed for privatizing both Medicare and Social Security, neither of which could work without mandatory participation.

No setback at all for them. They are just mouthing the mantra to try and distinguish themselves from the Dems. They have had chances to get a change but fail because even in their own party the majority blocks it. Don't worry Steven you will get your Utopian state in the future.

You surrender to the Communist Party? Where can we mail your "confessions against the state" form? Don't forget to sign up for reprogramming classes, comrade.

I never surrender. I just know that we are doomed as a nation to suffer and decline as has happened to every nation in the past. Luckily for me I will be dead and gone. They will in the future write about our decline and pinpoint these days as the last losing battle to stave off our collapse.

Privatizing Social Security is a good idea, but it's very costly (about $4 trillion) and probably not feasible at this point.

Otherwise, the mandatory aspect of participation would be not be any different than what it is today - instead of giving our Social Security tax checks to the government, we'd be depositing it into *our own* retirement accounts, similar to 401(k). The government would not be able to raid our accounts to mask the deficit or use the money to fight wars overseas.

So you think this court will not strike down the forced commerce? If they do then privatizing is dead.

If private sector solutions are deemed unconstitutional, then it could be said that the constitution is socialist.

Of course, one could get around it by letting each American start his own bank (kind of like starting your own super pac) then it's not really 'commerce' since you're doing it with yourself. It's masturbation, not sex.

I don't see the two as being the same. And yes, I think the court will strike down the mandate.

Any thoughts?

Yes.

Obamacare is dead. You know that, right?

I'm OK with that. You? Obamacare is dead.

This is as lame as it gets, but a good indication that even the libs know the only Obama "accomplished" with two years of a rubber stamp congress is about to be squahed as unconstitutional. Good re-election stuff right there, oh yeah! And what is the back up plan? Oh yeah...nothing.

Privatization of retirement is as simple as eliminating Social Security. OR allowing people the CHOICE of where they want their retirement deduction sent. Libs are not pro-CHOICE, that is the first problem. If anything, shooting down Obamacare would be more dangerous to the existing Social Security system, not a private one.

Bottom line, Obamacare is dead. We will have this precedent to use in any future legislation regarding retirement. It will be a good learning experience.
