This might be a simple question to answer for the VJ veterans, here is our story.

Iranian born female, still an Iranian citizen but also a Swedish citizen living in Sweden.

I am an American citizen, we are getting married in the USA in April 2012 then immediately starting the IR-1 / CR-1 process.

My question involves changing her last name when we get married, will this effect her Iranian or Swedish citizenship in any way, shape, or form?

Thank you for the reply.

How much do you know about travel restrictions to the USA during the IR-1 / CR-1 process?

There are no real restrictions, she will still be able to travel on the visa waiver.

name change always gets messy,

if you wish to update any federal ID, like a passport or ID card.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Thank you for your reply, are you suggesting she keep her name "As Is" to avoid any delay in the IR-1 / CR-1 process?

Only problem I see is if you don't have a Muslim ceremony the marriage won't be recognized in Iran.

We are planning on a Muslim ceremony sometime in the future, preferable in Iran with her family, after our marriage in the USA.

I was informed that she need only register my name in her Iranian Passport/Birth Certificate to be recognized as her husband, is this not true without the Muslim ceremony?
