a girl I know is married to a very abusive man. He's trying to force her to leave this area while her young daughter has school. She's about 2 weeks away from receiving her green card but he threatens here saying he will call imigration. He's also caused harm to her daughter, he's not the biological father. Can she lose her rights to the card or will she get it? Can she leave him because he has threatened her with harm? I'd hate to see something bad happen to her

I'm sorry your friend is going through such a situation. She needs to notify the police regardless of her status. It's important that she protects her life. No one knows what the next abuse will result in. Also, if she's only a few weeks from getting her green card (i'm assuming she's already been through the whole process and merely just waiting for the card in the mail).

She can do one of two things without her husband knowing.

- Have her forward her mailing address to you temporarily; this will drop anymail she receives from you.

- Or have get premium forwarding into her a (PO box at the same post office)

- She can go to the post office and have them HOLD every mail that comes in with her name on it. She can just drop by the post office every now and then until she picks up her Green Card.

I'm no expert but I really believe in prevention is better than cure.

I hope this helps. Let me know happens. It is well!
