I think it's probably a mistake and that they meant to say Dallas, since last Wednesday their email update specifically said "your local USCIS office", plus the Ombudsman emailed me that day, also saying Dallas.

Either way, I forwarded it to the Ombudsman again. I might try to talk to a tier 2 ISO on Monday as well.

I concur and hope you get the confirmation in mail the next week.

If you call and ask for tier 2 CSR you may have to call several times before you get transferred to a real IO ( I don't have statistics, but out of several times called at least on three occasions I got transferred to USCIS IO ).

The IO will have direct access on his screen to your case status (even though they can't see all details, yet they will know more than regular tier 2 CSR who only can see what you can see on USCIS case status page online).

Good luck!

I-485/I-130 filed: January 26,2012 (130/485 sent to Chicago lockbox, transferred to MSC, field office Baltimore, MD).

I-130 Approved: June 25, 2012

I-485 RFE issued: June 25, 2012

Contacted offices of Honorable Senator Ben Cardin and Barbara Mikulski at the end of July.

I-485 DECISION MADE on August 03, 2012 , LESS THAN A WEEK AFTER CONTACTING THE SENATOR'S OFFICE TO INQUIRE ON CASE STATUS!

I'm hoping so.

My lawyer thinks it's possible I will need to go to a second interview, although she says I also might receive a straight approval.

Just have to wait.

Congratulations to those new approvals; I'm always glad to hear good news on our Aprilers.

The Ombudsman confirmed today that USCIS had informed them that my I-360 and I-485 are currently in transit to the Dallas office, and that the letter I got about my I-360 being transferred to VSC was issued in error and I would receive an amended transfer notice.

The Ombudsman said they will continue to monitor my case.

The Ombudsman informed me today I will be having a second interview, sometime in February.

It's a good and a bad news.

Good is: your case is moving along and you will , hopefully, get the closure after the scheduled interview.

Bad: you still have to wait another month to go through the same process you were through (and could have been done with if adjudicated properly from the beginning).

In retrospective, the problem with your case (or so I assume) was that it was a kind that is not streamlined and not routinely processed by service centers on a daily basis. Chances are that whoever had to handle it didn't have much experience (if any) adjudicating your type of a case and to rid themselves of liability of making a wrong decision just passed it over to another department.

Hope you are at the final stages of your case adjudication and that you can put it all behind sooner than later.

Best!

I am beginning to think that they are just going to pretend that the first interview never happened, and that this will be the "real" interview. The "Testing and Interview" circle on my case status vanished months ago (when it went back into Initial Review), and now it just reads Acceptance, Initial Review, Decision, and Post-Decision Activity.

Now I just need to get this whole Houston / Dallas thing sorted out. The Ombudsman has still not explained Houston's role in all of this.

I've scheduled an Infopass for a couple of weeks time; if the interview notice appears and it says Dallas then I can just cancel the Infopass and attend the interview; if the interview notice appears and it says Houston then I will go to the Infopass, explain everything and see what the deal is.

As unfortunate as it is, you may be a victim of an obscure case and the resulting apprehensiveness of adjudicators to take personal responsibility processing it.

Your file got shuffled around and, hopefully, this time it will land on the desk of someone who will be better prepared to make a decision.

Good luck with the infopass!
