hahahahah

Congrats wifi! And mycdngrl! Dang, Denver gets a lot of great feedback. I hope Milwaukee is not going to be weird. Is there anyone, silent or active, who's going to be interviewed in Milwaukee?

Also, do you guys think I can bring a new co-sponsorship form to the interview? Would that make any difference, provided it's from the same people (my in-laws)? It's just that the one we sent with the application is the household member affidavit and we don't live with them all the time anymore. We're kinda hopping between towns (it's work related). I'd hate to have to lie that we live there all the time and if I do admit that we don't the household member affidavit won't be good enough. On the other hand, they might not even ask. We have bills going to both places.

Hey coo coo...I have my biometrics appt in milwaukee a day after your interview....I'm really looking forward to read your experience

You do not have to do this. Your USCIS authorisation can be either your EAD or your green card, so even if you obtain it with an EAD (and therefore have that "not valid..." endorsement), you aren't required to go and get it removed after your green card is approved.

Like I said earlier, at this point I am going to receive my EAD days (perhaps even the day of) before my interview so I am not planning to do anything with it now. If I go and get a Texas ID card with it it will only be valid for one year (instead of 10 years if I used my green card to obtain a state ID card) and a SSN card would have that endorsement as discussed above. I'd rather just wait for my GC which (hopefully!) I will have by this time next month.

Sorry if somebody misunderstood my point. Everybody here is in a different situation and I always have a SSN with the "endorsement" and I just waiting for the day when I have my SSN without any endorsement, for me it's like feel free!!! and more if i have my GC, but Hypnos was right with his comment. That endorsement do not make any big difference is just a personal appreciation, your SSN will be still the same, the number never will change and you will have the same benefits...

Shooli, you must be going nuts :( It will happen soon! Hang in there.

Hypnos, even though you don't seem like you're too worried about it: congrats! I don't wish it to you, but if for some reason they were to take longer deciding your case after the interview, you'll still be free to travel and work, which is nice. And plus, those little cards look badass. I'm almost bummed out that they're gonna take mine away. I took a picture of it for our scrap book :D

2012

Apr. 4 - Filed AOS package

Apr. 30 - Responded to RFE
May 3 - Online status changed to "Request for Evidence Response Review"

June 12 - EAD/AP picked up by USPS
June 14 - EAD/AP in the mail
June 15 - applied for a SSN
June 22 - got SSN
July 11 - Interview - approved on the spot!

Hey coo coo...I have my biometrics appt in milwaukee a day after your interview....I'm really looking forward to read your experience

Good luck

Hey! You know you can do a walk in earlier, right? You just gotta say you couldn't possibly make it the day of IF they ask. At first they didn't say anything and I proactively started explaining myself. But I feel like they wouldn't have noticed. And when I did tell them that I couldn't have come on the day of my appointment, because I had to get a ride to Milwaukee from my spouse, who didn't get off of work for that day, they were like "oh, we don't normally do this, but if you sit down and wait for a bit, we'll call you in". I think you can only do this on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Good luck!

shooli, I'm with you... nothing!

So, I decided to send in my app for AP and EAD. A little bird told me that there's quite a backlog in some areas, so I should go ahead and get these documents. I mailed them off this morning - Day 87 of my Visa Journey. (can any one tell me if I can get a driver's license with the EAD?? Please say yes!).

I don't expect to hear from Orlando till at least August or September, maybe later. That's how far behind they are (according to uscis.gov, they're only just touching apps from Dec last year). Also, my case is a little more unique that the straight forward Petition and AOS, because I abandoned my residency 9 years ago. So, I think they are dragging their feet a little as they scratch their heads over that one.

I-129F filed May 1996
K-1 issued August 1996
Married in September 1996.
AOS October 1996
LPR April 1997 to 2003.
Forced to abandon status at POE in DC, 2003.
Lived & worked in Asia together 2000 to 2011.
We have 2 gorgeous kids!
Returned to USA Oct 2011, on B1 tourist visa
Filed i-130 and i-485 in April 2012.

LPR approved 10/22/2012 (Conditional 2 year period waived)

You can get a DL with an EAD. The DL will only be valid for the length of the EAD. Majority are valid for 12 months.

Yes, you can obtain a DL with your EAD and a SSN.

I don't think that your previous abandonment will even be a factor in their decision making since it isn't a "red-flag" or a negative. People have a right to abandon their residency if they so wish without any future issues for filing for other immigration benefits.
