Wow, 39 days from application to interview is crazy fast. Who would have thought government bureaucracy could move so swiftly when they wanted to?

Which office will you be interviewing at?

It's my belief that early walk-in biometrics does speed up your case, based on anecdotal evidence from a lot of people who have posted here. At the very least it cannot hurt your case, which is all the reason I needed to go ahead and do it.

Hi Hypnos,

We're interviewing in Baltimore, it's not too far from where I live, plus finally my husband and I are both on the East Coast so that makes it easier! It's amusing, we really thought this entire process would take so long that by the time they got round to interviewing us, school would be over for both of us and we'd be in our new apartment with all the natural co-mingling of stuff immigration needs, instead, we're 'about' to sign for a place, 'about' to move in together and 'just about' to fully co-mingle our finances etc. I would not be surprised if they request further evidence from us! Also, I'm sorry to hear your walk-in was unpleasant, it really seems like a set policy should be in place across the board rather than people having to chance it and maybe getting someone nice (me) or getting somebody awful (you and others).

wishing everyone best of luck in their processes, anybody else heard back regarding anything yet?

Wow, 39 days from application to interview is crazy fast. Who would have thought government bureaucracy could move so swiftly when they wanted to?

I'm not trying to nitpick (because I personally find that annoying) but I was trying to figure out how anyone got an interview in 39 days. And by my math, it's something more like 72 days, isn't it? If the application was mailed in early April and the interview is in mid-June? Isn't that 70-something days?

71 days according to my fuzzy maths.

I should have said "39 days from application to receiving an interview date", that would have been more accurate.

Well..unsuccessful walk-in biometrics this morning. Even though they were not busy, they told Jon to come back on his appt date and time (which is unfortunately right in the middle of the work day/week for me).

To anyone that's thinking about it, don't try to walk-in at the Aurora, Colorado USCIS application center.

It is somewhat silly that there are these patchwork of rules that vary as to which area you live in (walk-in biometrics, passport stamps if your case is approved, etc.).

The biometrics is particularly egregious. I know in my case the office was deserted but they still gave me a hassle over doing it early. I was tempted to say "do you have dinner plans tonight?" or "trying to get out early today?" but I know that probably wouldn't have gone over well, despite it reflecting how I felt.

As I understand it the reason they schedule these appointments ~3 weeks in advance is so that the applicant can make arrangements ahead of time to get the office (take off time from work, arrange childcare, etc.). If I walk in there and they are not backed up from other people's appointments then there should be zero problems with them doing it early. Instead it seems to be a complete toss-up whether office X will do it or not.

I'm sorry you had a bad experience at your ASC. It really does seem like government employees sometimes forget that they serve the public and not the other way around.

Hi there!

I think my case will be able to reaffirm or disprove your belief.

Sorry I have not participated much in the forum so far.

If Aimee's case is normal, I could be receiving a notice in, say, 3-5 days.

I sure hope I get my interview letter this week....I know I am probably being overly optimistic...I wish I had a Hartford partner to compare notes with!

I am encouraged by the fact Aimee K got hers though. It's nice knowing that by summer time most of us will be all set.

I'll consider myself lucky if I get an interview appointment this month; I know it's more likely I'll receive one in the first half of June, probably for an interview in July.

It will help that I won't have to pull the kids out of school for that day since it should be in their holidays. I'm a good 2 hours away from the Dallas USCIS office so it isn't exactly next-door.

Sorry you all had a bad experience with this, I do think its mostly luck and location though... I had a very successful early walk-in 1,800miles away from the office I was scheduled at!!! It was at a small office (York, PA) so it is possible that smaller cities make a positive difference. Also, my backup plan was to go to the next closest office if the York one refused....

Still waiting for that biometrics letter. It's going to be one month real soon with no news from them. It's getting pretty discouraging.

I am waiting for the biometrics as well, I don't know why it takes so long, especially when most of the people got biometrics letter together with NOAs.
