HI all

I am ready to send in the paper work for the AOS/EAD.

I am wondering If I should get a AD for my wife. I will be contacting Hong Kong Consolute to move her petition back to the Philippines for the K-2 process of her son.

I highly doubt that they will let a minor travel alone from Philippines to Washington DC. I am thinking of them going thru costoms alone. If he had a adult escort to help him with costoms I can meet him like in Detrot or MSP. I will most likely have him go on northwest.

I think it would be good for my wife to go, maybe if funds happen i can go also for a week or if he would be allowed to come alone, I can meet him up at costoms.

Thanks

Yogi

I personally think everyone who is eligible to use Advance Parole should get one. Just because you are adjusting status, is no reason to be stuck in the US the entire time. And, if an emergency arises back home, you can go on a moment's notice.

However, it is worth noting that some people recommend not using AP unless absolutely necessary, because if there *were* to be complications in the adjustment process, it is a lot easier to remove you if you were paroled back into the US than if you entered on a visa.

P.S. people who have overstayed should never use advance parole, because the 3/10 year bar applies whether you have AP or not.

On the topic of minors traveling alone:

Most airlines have an "unaccompanied minors" program. In the US I believe you are allowed to accompany the minor all the way to the gate and wait with him until the flight boards. Then when they arrive at the destination, airline personnel will escort him through immigrations/customs and deliver him to whoever is authorized to pick him up. Check with the airline you are thinking of flying with and ask if they have this program on the PI-DC route.

"When all else fails, read the instructions."
