I am so sorry for your lose.

my US wife passed away in 2006 before i get my green card,and i never have it when i applied for my Citizenship when my wife were alive,

but by law after 3 years marriage i can apply for Citizenship even if the green card not in my hand,

I had my Citizenship interview that time my wife were a live,I passed the interview questions,and that time the officer ask from more documents to mail them to him before approve my Citizenship,I did send what ever I can send,then my wife passed away,after time the officer called my phone.I answered,

he asked me for more avidance to provide with my Citizenship application,so that he can approve it,then he asked me if i still with my wife,I told him.that my wife passed away,right away he closed my case.

so I start all over from the beginning.I applied for a green card,the a new Citizenship.and I got them both in short time.but I had to apply as a widow...

Sadly my husband (US citizen) passed away unexpectedly last week. I am a september filer, and wondering what to do next. Unfortunately, I have to wait 6-8 weeks till a death certificate is issued, so I have no certified evidence of his death at the moment. Should I just wait and hope I get approved without and RFE? Let me know what you guys think

First I am so very sorry for your loss.

In relation to your status. Had he passed prior to filing you would have filed with a waiver. As you have already filed I would make an INFOPASS appointment and let them know he has passed and that you need to change it to a waiver filing. You should be RFE'd for the death certificate and have 86 days to supply it. The reason for letting them know is as with divorce if you are divorced while the ROC is processing then you have to change it to a waiver filing and if you don't and the card gets approved on a joint filing when it should have been waiver you can encounter problems later (like with USC).

I would book and INFOPASS and try and speak with the people who produce the death certificates to get it sped up for immigration purposes. Hopefully they understand.

In relation to your question, I think you should do an InfoPass. Your situation has changed and USCIS should be informed. If you don't inform them and you end up getting the new card based on a joint filing, it might have implications down the line if you decide to apply for citizenship. Better safe than sorry.

I am sorry to hear about this unexpected loss. I hope you can find a way to make it through this sad time.

I know that a person cannot be buried without a death certificate. So one should be available to you within a few days, not weeks. The funeral home can issue one, and a "certified" one from the town/city you live in should be available a week or so after that. 6-8 weeks is wrong. ( my mom passed away last month, so I am a bit on top of this).

There is a temporary record of his death (we've buried him), but no official death certificate yet, so I'm just going to wait for it. If I don't have my green card at that point I will make an info pass appointment.
