Hi everybody, the thread went quiet, so I thought I might add some updates... How's everybody doing? I'm getting ready to file to lift conditions off my GC in about a week or two. I sucks the fees went up this summer. If it wasn't for that I'd have filed in December... Luckily I'm getting money from Geico for my accident so that's gonna help. I planned on starting college here and was actually going to have my first class today when I got a call that my loan can't be processed until I have NOA for lifting conditions... :crying: This means the loan won't be process in time for me to have money to pay for this semester. I'm bummed.

Nikki, They wouldn't let you get the loan until you got the NOA? That seems weird. My cousin was in college and was awaiting her GC (she didnt even have one) and they let her take out loans and even get in state tuition. Maybe it differs from state to state.

End of November we had our AOS interview, which went well. It took a while to get the GC, which got us a little worried. But now that it's in hand, we are done with USCIS for a while. We kept putting off our trip to Poland because there was biometrics, then we didn't know when the interview was going to happen, then waiting for the GC. So now its back to planning! My husband's parents miss him :luv: and were saying either we go there to see them, or they are planning a trip to the US. So we'll see how that works out.

Job hunting for hubby is kinda hard in Chicago. Since there are so many immigrants, they hear his accent and either dont want to offer him the same level of position, or cut the $$$. He keeps comparing to what status/level he'd be at back home in Poland, and gets a little bummed out. I hope something picks up for him.

Hi guys,

Niki, that really sucks with your loan... I hope that you can figure out something. I would have never thought that they might not give it to you because of lifting conditions. Your GC is still valid... That really sucks...

I started my lifting conditions process and they sent me NOA quickly... taking into account, that they transfered my case from Nebraska to California. It is so expensive to do the whole process...

Nanusia, is it really so difficult for a foreigner to find a job in Chicago? I live in Michigan and I always though if we lived in Chicago I would have an easier time to get a job I really like... It looks like everywhere the grass is greener...

Hi Monika,

It seems that for $6.50/hr its not that hard, but who wants to work hard for that kind of money? My husband keeps calculating with the low value of the dollar, and rising wages in PL, that soon, he'd be making more in PL than what they offer here in the US!

I'm not sure if its better or worse in cities such as Chicago, where there are tons of immigrants. I think employers take advantage of the fact there is so many willing, that they know they can offer low wages. If not one, then another one will take it :(

Witam, mam pytanko, na ktore byc moze ktos tutaj potrafi odpowiedziec.

W Polsce mam nazaczynanych cala mase studiow (zadne nie ukonczone). Chcialabym sie zorientowac co warte sa moje naukowe osiagniecia tutaj bo byc moze w miare latwo i szybko moglabym uzyskac tutaj tytul bachelor's - w Polsce mialam zaliczone 4 lata studiow plus jakichs pojedynczych przedmiotow calkiem sporo.

pozdrawiam

Ana

About my loan... I was rejected by FAFSA which didn't come as a surprise, so I went with Astrive. According to what they told me, they need a proof that I'm gonna be here for entire semester (like you can ever prove that!) and my GC is expiring in March 2008. I explained to them that lifting conditions is just a formality but they demanded NOA. If they are worried that I'm gonna bail or something what's the point of the Affidavit of Support? Maybe I could have argued but it was all really dragging on and the tuition is due tomorrow. Anyways...

Nanusia, that sucks about your hubby's job hunt... I never had problems myself and no one ever made my being an immigrant an issue. I'm sorry everyone's being so hard on you guys!

Salary.com: "The median expected salary for a typical Staff Nurse - RN in the United States is $59,061. This basic market pricing report was prepared using our Certified Compensation Professionals' analysis of survey data collected from thousands of HR departments at employers of all sizes, industries and geographies"

przyklady w specjalizacjach:

Chief Nurse Anesthetist $162,364.

Clinical Nurse Specialist $76,209.

Nurse Practitioner Specialty Care $82,174.

etc.

A teraz mam inny temat. Czy przyjechala do was ostatnio jakas rodzinka z PL?
