why is the US embassy in Accra backed up? is it because Ghana is a high visa fraud country and so they need to do extra check on each applicant? i just cant believe how long we have to wait to get an interview. other countries get interviews withing weeks upon completion of their case from NVC.

Too many to mention. There are a lot of petitions that go through Ghana. Then when you add tourist, student and J1s, DV lottery visas and the waiver applications (I forgot how many countries but for a large chunk of Sub-Saharan Africa) it just adds up. It seems to have gotten much worse since we went through the process.

i think they have a USCIS office in Accra for West Africa or so. not too sure about that though. but shouldn't they then allocate more resources to Accra if they have increase in demand? i think Accra is the most backed up US embassy in the world. let me know if i am wrong.

Ghana is not a fraud country , it's because so many application passes through Accra, I know people from Nigeria , Togo and even Liberia who are applying through Ghana , I think it is easy to get approve in Ghana compared to countries like Nigeria ,so because of that there are so many cases, I wrote to the consulate last week requesting my interview t be move forward and they explained to me that they are processing so many case and therefore cannot change it.

if all these other countries are applying through Ghana, shouldn't the US government allocate more resources to the Accra embassy then? all the same, i guess its worth the wait.

We waited almost 6 months from pick up to interview- so things have improved a little...

I thought you could only apply in the country the ben. was living in?

Same here! In my case, the petition was approved in February. But his interview is not until August.

So that is a 6 month wait.

The only good thing about such a long a wait time for the interview is that it gives us more time to prepare and organize our proof of evidence

Agree- the time makes it do you can get everything and anything--- VJ members have some advantage in that :)

Israel saw so many denials when he was there because they didnt have this or that--
