I-864: Income reported on tax returns, Files Jointly with Spouse

I'm sure this question has been question before but I can't seem to find a thread with the answer.

My father is our joint sponsor and makes more than enough above the 125% requirement on his own. On question 25 of the I-864 it asks you to fill in your reported income as appears on each specific 1040 filed during the three most recent tax years. The wording says ''my'' reported income, however he files taxes jointly with my mother. The way I understand this section is that the incomes actually will include my mother's income--because they file taxes jointly and the 1040's don't separate this.

Can anyone confirm if this section includes both their incomes? I see a few posts on here stating the totals entered here should come from the w-2s , and even my dad seems to think the numbers entered in this section come from his specific w-2.

Thank you,

Michelle

If your father's income is documented on a W2 form, and is clearly sufficient without adding your mother's income then he should state only his own income, then provide at least the complete 2011 tax return including the W2 for 2011 with nothing from your mother. If his income is not documented with a W2, he states the total income from line 22 of the tax returns, as does your mother on the I-864a she will need to provide.

Thank you very much Pushbrk. So it is true he will just enter his own incomes from the past three years and provide his W-2s.
