RFE?--I thought we were in the clear!

My husband just had his biometrics appointment yesterday (2/23/06) in Phoenix for AOS and EAD. My (mis?)understanding was that once you got your biometrics appointment that meant your case was processing fine and that you were in the clear from an RFE since they'd already looked over your paperwork.

Uhh, guess not?

We haven't been able to access our case status for ages (got our NOA1 for AOS and EAD on 1/27/06), and I was finally able to today, and lo and behold:

On February 17, 2006, we mailed a notice requesting additional evidence or information in this case. The notice explains in detail what additional material is needed. If you have questions about the notice, what is required, or if 14 days have passed and you have not received the notice, please call the National Customer Service Center at (800) 375-5283.

:crying: I take it as a slap in the face to my organizational skills! I seriously cannot understand what would have been missing. My biggest fear is that (as I've been hearing a lot lately) they're going to want another medical, even though my husband already had one for his K-1 and we sent a(nother) copy of it to them with our AOS/EAD paperwork. We sure as heck can't afford that (but we'd find a way), since nursing school=brokeness. So I'm hoping it's just some dumb little mistake like I forgot to dot an i or cross a t or something. Sigh. We still haven't gotten it in the mail, so I'm dying to know what it is. O, how USCIS does love to torture us.

So now we can acess our I-485 case status but not the I-765... goofballs. I thought about trying to call and ask why it wasn't available but I figured I'd just end up waiting 50 minutes to get some grumpy lady who interrupts me mid-sentence to hiss, "That's not my job. You'll just have to wait (and hopefully suffer. muahaha. etc.)." :(

I'm sorry you got RFE :( Your organizational skills might have nothing to do with it, many times they would send a RFE for something that you've sent already. You never know what to expect with them  Hopefully it's not something big.

I know this process can be frustrating, but there's not much we can do about it, except trying to be patient and positive no matter what happens. Good luck :)

Hi everyone,

Thanks for your sympathy.

We got the RFE document and luckily it's something that can be easily resolved (they needed information on my mom, the joint sponsor). http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=3611

You guys are great. :)

Thank goodness it is something that you can remedy quickly! :)

Hubby and I are stuck in an RFE nightmare at the moment regarding the I-864, it is an incredibly complicated situation and we're going to be seeing a lawyer on Monday (lucky us!).

BTW, if you ever get the urge to call USCIS 800 number, don't bother. I was put on hold for about 30 mins and then spoke to someone who had no clue what I was talking about. Made me read the RFE to her over the phone line by line and then asked "So what is the problem exactly" after my explaining it 5 times already. Then ended the call with "Thank you for calling USCIS, it was a pleasure to serve you today!!!!" NO HELP AT ALL. Idiots.

Well, anyway, little rant over. Hope everything goes smoothly for you from now on.

Kate
