Hello Everyone,

My case has been accepted 12/20/2011 by USCIS and it's at the Vermont Service Center. My fiance resides in Lagos Nigeria. When we call Lagos, they say they don't have us in their system yet. Is that normal? Please tell me what to expect at this point. Also please tell me what types of questions will be presented to him during the interview? What can go wrong during his interview? What to avoid and what to expect? Thank you very much.

First welcome to VJ! Second pls fill out the rest of your profile timeline included so that you can get the best advice. What do you mean your case was accepted by USCIS is that NOA1 or NOA2...NOA1 is notice that they have your case and they normally send you a hard copy of the notice in the mail to let you know that your case has been transferred to a service center. NOA2 says your petition has been approved and is being forwarded to Lagos..so which one do you have? because you mention Lagos said they dont have you in there system and if you have been approved since Decemeber that is not normal so I am thinking maybe all you have is the NOA1.....Ok just went back to your post you mentioned that your case is at VSC ( Vermont Service Center) so probably all you have is the NOA1 which means LAgos will not have your petiton...If you just sent your petition in December then you are not likely to hear from VSC on approval of your petition until on or at the earliest is May but maybe more like June. which is very normal....If what I assume is true about u just filing in December then all you can do at this point is wait that is why it is so important to finish filling out timeline and profile so we can advise better and all you can do at this point is wait. But while you wait you can go to the nigeria portal here on VJ and read past interview reviews those questions will help you when it comes to the interview. Also continue to gather your supporting evidence along the way so you can send to your fiance right before the interview...Goodluck to you once you read through the interview reviews and still have questions pls feel free to ask

Welcome to the forum.

If your timeline is correct, it looks like you received your NOA1 from the VSC on 20 Dec 2011. You are in the ~ 5 month waiting period between NOA1 and NOA2. Review the Sub-saharan Africa regional forum, for info about the interview process at your consulate. That is a good place to post your interview-related inquiries. :guides: for general information about the K-1 visa process.

Good luck on your visa journey.
