I got divorced last year from a K-1 beneficiary I petitioned for several years ago. I wouldn't say it was fraud or all done for a GC, we were together here for 5 years. However I would absolutely say you need to file ASAP and protect yourself. My ex moved out of my house and bed and directly in with her new boyfriend. Because of her guilt in that situation I was able to get a very fair separation. Now that she is realizing that I won't be financing her life, and her boyfriend lied about his financial situation, she is trying to get me to finance her lifestyle. She had a fairly lavish lifestyle with me. Her new boyfriend's felonious background and unemployed status doesn't allow them much now. If she could do it over, she could very well have me paying for a reasonably comfortable life for the two of them.

Getting the divorce done quickly was the absolute key. You must move forward now, or you could end up paying for a whole lot more in the future than you have in the past to support this woman who doesn't want you in her life right now, other than as a stepping stone to life in the US and potential paycheck while she is here. If you are happy to continue to support that for her, and pay for that life she wants, then by all means don't do what previous posters have said.

But if you don't want to be used, potentially for years of cost and aggravation to yourself, talk to an attorney ASAP.

Good luck.

Hi I'm sorry to hear what happened to you. I have nothing much to add to what others said previously.

Straight forward points:

1.) File on Monday, the longer you wait, the more time you give her to turn the cards on you and don't be surprised if she cooks up a story to make you look abusive or as a wrong-doer.

2.) There is NO REASON you should wait the time she asked to file for divorce. ACT NOW!

Hello,

You have gotten some sound advice from many immigration experts on this sight. I don't know as much as the rest of the folks on here in that regards, but to me you really should see a lawyer on Monday so you are not on the hook for the next 10 years as some have nicely pointed out. No matter what the mistakes you made, it's better to walk away clean rather than it turning it ugly. I think I can speak for a lot of the folks here, but my wife staying for some dude for 4 days isn't right on any level.

I'm going to channel T-bone here a little bit and say she is turning into a manipulator(if she wasn't one already) to try and stay here. If she is completely honest with her intentions and you are okay with that maybe you can work something out that both of you are happy with, but it looks like there are too many dark spots she doesn't want to bring to light, big red flag. Regardless of what anyone says, it's up to you on how you want to proceed...

Hey - Welcome to Monday !

You find the right courthouse to file?

Remember - the one who files the paperwork first CONTROLS most of this process.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Bucknutt,

looks like you have set up yourself for this.

Fraud requires a fraudster and a person to be frauded. Let me tell you something: if she is as good as I think she is, then she will know the next step of her multi-step plan. It will involve getting hurt inside your house (think bruise), filing a police report, then getting a restraining order against you, then prohibiting you to get within 500 feet of her. The next step then is a VAWA petition and the final step will be your criminal conviction for domestic violence as a wife beater.

But you are right: give her some time to work it out.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

I spoke to her tonight and asked her if this is what she was doing

Ooopsie!

Pro tip: She's on the other team.

and she said I was unbelievable and she just wanted me out of her life and to continue a new life on here in the U.S. no matter what it was. She said I was only making assumptions just like I always do

How original! Blame the victim.

Vanessa and Tony gave great advice. Hit the ejection seat button captain!

Bucknutt76, this is your life your decision.

You already tried to talking to her, and she told you straight out that she does not want to be with you.

As much as it hurts you now, you need to think about your future. Even if she comes back, would you want her after she's been with another man? this is supposed to be your wife. If she did this once she can and will do it again.

All these wonderful people on here are giving you great advice, and they are very knowledgable.

Just divorce her, and let her be.

Time to pick the pieces of your broken heart and move on, theres plenty fish in the sea.

:)
