Your Case Status: Post Decision Activity

On March 22, 2012, a USCIS office received this case from the State Department with a request that we review it. We will notify you when we complete our review, or if we

need something from you. If you

move while this case is pending,

please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with

your new address or call our customer service center at

As some of you knew we were placed on review in Jan this year, now we just got the above status from USCIS after DHS reviewed our k1 cos it was sent back to US in Jan for review. Now, just to tell you guys that the k1 is not considered close since its being reviewed now by USCIS. Some taught k1 will expire after temporary denial but i guess they do revalidate it like Cr1. So hopefully they'll finish wit that and reaffirm our petition for another interview in Lagos.

Hope for the best.

That was fast. We applied in 2010, after 2 interviews we were still denied based on our own personal error.

The petition was only sent back to USCIS a few day ago after but his 2nd interview was way back in July 2011, so 8mths I guess it took them to return it. We how ever did not wait as we are presently on the CR1 route.

I have called USCIS and told them we have gone ahead to file a CR1 petiton and have been told many times the fiance petition will automatically be cancelled, but I assume they have to follow procedure if you do not put it in writing to close it.

I will wait for them to send a follow up letter or what ever needs to be mailed to me and will respond appropriately that way, they will be able to close it.

I hope others who have gone through similar process will chime in.

All the best.

Expiration is a center specific thing. CSC expires them immediately 90 percent of the time. Frustrating but you know you don't need to wait on the review that can take another 4-6 months. VSC is more apt to actually review it. And at least with Nigeria they also are fairly apt to reaffirm it. However as soon as you aren't succesful at the interview you can file a new K1 on the presumption that the first is expired and shortcut the whole process .

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

Yes that's correct.. But waiting for reaffirmation is also very recommended. Immediately after the denial, i sent an email to the consulate on why we were denied instead of asking for the birth cert. I guess they knew the CO at the time of our interview was unprofessional enough.. I guess thats why they speed it up.

Lagos seems to collect the unprofessional CO's Joseph was asked if his father died because he found out he was marrying a white woman. I would personally like to kick that one's Asian b=tt once or twice ( It was the famous Asian lady that was at Lagos then , I haven't heard reports of her recently )

Funny you should mention her. I have spent the last two days reading through the 198 Lagos embassy reviews and OMG in 2010 this woman was something else. But yes seems in about the last year no mention of her. Praise be to God.

Personally every review thats given here each VJer needs to also email that review to your state reps. They need to see and hear what we say not just when things fall off the tracks.

I think we should do a thread about the COs there and their trait. Joseph said there was an older white man that approved almost everyone, a young good looking black woman that only approved black and black couples and then the asian lady. If we knew their quirks we might be a better prepared group.

Excellent idea. Because going through these reviews for Lagos I am taking note and I noticed that also at least of asian lady but seems she is no longer there. So yes lets start that baby up.

good idea, but don't forget to put a column for the fraud relationships each CO have stopped as well... oh wait, is there a way to validate this? how about we put some of the blames on ourselves for lack of preparation or underestimated lagos consulate. i knw people who organize their files the night before and it showed during their interview, but yet came on here to VJ and blamed the CO for laughing.. how do we separate or reflect this on the thread.. please do start it.. have you thought maybe we nigerians will now focus on this thread and just prepare for COs and not what we should know about our "real" relationships? i do agree some COs are a-holes!
