can a downloaded ds-230 from travel.state.gov be used to replace a hand-filled one with a few mistakes? will there be any issues? has anyone done this before? thanks.

It has to be filled out online because you have to generate some kind of number and it submits it to the consulate.

We did (I downloaded and completed). I used a PDF editor though. No problems. This was about a year ago though, for the Warszawa Embassy interview.

I think you're referring to the DS-156

Be sure to check the expiration date in the top-right corner of the first page on the ds-230. The most recent copy expires on 3/31/2012. We filled ours out when it had an expiration of 2/29/2012, but I'm going to wait for the interview date before I do it again.

No problem. While we are this, I noticed a post about the 156 and just to let you know that Warszawa requires both the DS-156 and DS-156K; as well both downloaded. One of those was a bit tricky to download, can't recall which one; and as before this was about 1 year ago. And before I forget, instructions and Polish/English had one big difference: the Polish one wanted I-134 notarized the English version did not. We did notarize but there was a couple from Ukraine (interviewing in Warsaw) that reported they did not and had not problems.
