that particular state has said it was ok for greyston garcia to run down the block after the thief who stole his car stereo and stab him, when the stereo thief swung a bag that had three car radios in it towards garcia. the law is so forgiving, that greyston garcia stabbed the thief that he pursued to death, never called the police, hid the knife he used to kill the thief, grabbed the bag that had two other stolen radios in it along with his, and sold the other two radios. and again, never called the police. when initially questioned, he denied any involvement. lied to the police. when it went to trial, because a bag of radios could be potentially be dangerous to have swung at you, the whole thing was thrown out by the judge, citing the stand your ground law.

there's something weird going on in florida.

Ok, so Greyston could have been charged with falsifying a police report, if that was not one of the charges -- the judge had little choice but to throw out the entire case. I make that judgement based solely on what you've written here.

Those that would contemplate criminal acts will eventually get the memo that folks can and just might 'stand their ground.' Criminals do stupid things, however, they are not stupid -- they too enjoy breathing and remaining vertical.

Just not allowed to defend against black if one is white.star_smile.gif

At least politically it seems that way. The race hustlers and poverty pimps can keep and stand behind their politics -- I'll stand behind what's legal.

Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and now Obama all make their name playing the race card. Obama did it with his "Dream Act" trying to get more votes and now with this Florida thing. Jackson and Sharpton have always been race vampires...it's how they make their living. If there's no race problems then those two go broke.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

Allow me to correct you -- those two clowns are race hustlers. Since vampires are not real, they can't harm us -- but those two have elevated race hustling to a profession that is quite harmful.

it's "standing ground" to chase someone down a block, that is running away from you? what if you see the stereo thief at starbucks a day or month later and run after them with a butcher knife? is that still "standing ground"? all you see wrong with chasing a fool that steals a car stereo, stabbing them to death, and not contacting any authorities about the incident whatsoever and then lying when questioned by the police is the "falsifying a police report part"?

The short answer is YES! Whether the prep is chased two feet or two blocks -- I could care less. That is one less POS to create additional victims I Have zero, zip, nada sympathy for criminals. The more of criminals that get sent to their maker and the faster it happens -- they will get the memo that the old days of them having their way with folks is over.

Let me add, in the above scenario -- deadly force is not appropriate. However, a well whopped azz is in order for said scumbag. An aluminum baseball bat serves other purposes outside of its intended use. Like targeting the criminals knees, shins, thighs, arms, elbows and hands. The resulting injuries should prevent any running for a few months and provide the perp with years of painful reminders of what happens when you steal and the victim catches you before the cops can tuck you away at taxpayers expense.

That a lot of effort. Just shoot them.star_smile.gif

So you are saying that there were no eyewitnesses to what happened? Is that what you are saying?

The detectives spent a week with Zimmerman, recreating his account of events over and over. They couldn't make it work, so they tried to charge him with manslaughter. The local state attorney wouldn't charge him for whatever reason. Now, it has been given to a different state attorney to present to a grand jury. The grand jury will return an indictment. That is almost a certainty.

Let's make a bet on this shall we? How about a sig bet? The loser has to use a sig of the winners choice on here for two weeks. Let's limit the sig size to a max of 500 x 350 pixels.

That's pure liberal fantasy land. In the entire history of mankind -- no such uptopia has ever existed. Some people by their very nature and character seek out others to do harm, i.g., rob, theft, rape, assault, etc., AKA - criminals. How on earth are law abiding folks supposed to avoid a confrontation with such evil?

Many years of the old standard of 'retreat first' produced a lot of victims and emboldened those hell bent on causing mayhem. Stand your ground as a concept is still a baby -- the criminals will get the message, eventually.

How do you know evil, by just lookin at it? Come on, seriously? This would be hilarious if it wasn't so absurd. Big Dog is talking about everyday interactions with people and learning to avoid confrontations that escalate to violence. For example, you accidentally cut someone off while driving, he drives alongside, unrolls his window and yells at you, maybe even says he'd kick your #######. Do you call him on that? Do you take his words as a threat, draw your gun and aim it at him? Or do you smile and wave at him, apologizing for cutting him off? Stand your ground, my #######. Some of you act as if there are cold blooded murderers lurking around every corner, just waiting to kill you for being nice. Hahaha...oh brother.

It says the cops spent 5 hours questioning Zimmerman, not two weeks. Obviously there wasn't much to go on if the DA didn't want to prosecute the case for lack of evidence.
