And if anyone want to know an official version is KYIV. This is what State Department is using. Actually they used KIEV before and now using KYIV.

when i went to see Vika i had her sign her G-325a,i filled it with an I, she latter sent her sent her translated birth and marriage certificate

it was translated with a Y. :crying:

thank god I had her sign another one but my hand writing is so bad, i should have been a doctor.

Since we use a different alphabet the two names represent a transliteration of either Russian (Kiev) or Ukrainian (Kyiv)

Makes no difference to anyone in the world how it is spelled or transliterated for any purpose in the immigration process.

Since Ukrainian is now the "official" language of Ukraine, technically the correct transliteration is KYIV. Makes no difference.

Variances in transliterations are so common that the consulate in Kiev will accept any reasonable spelling of any name.
