hello April 12 fillers,

my window opened yesterday and that's also the day that the tax transcripts arrived. I'm now waiting for a letter from my employer explaining that my husband is my beneficiary for life insurance, that i was on his health plan until i was hired (then i got my own because it is cheaper to have both individual one than to be both on his) and that my function requires to be "on call" all the time so that they provide me with a cell phone (that why we don't have a family phone plan.

i spent 3 hours yesterday sorting through 2 years of mail (YAY! good that a least it was all in the same spot) so i found all the rest of the evidence we needed.

I just have a couple of questions:

- i read about 2 passport picture to send along with the file, but i read your lists here, and i don't see you guys send the pictures. Is this because they will take my picture during bio-metric appointment (and therefore no need for pics or print cards?) or should i put them in my packet anyway?

- Affidavits: i don't know what to do about this. In one hand, i don't want to bother friends and family, but on the other hand it would give some "human feeling" to the file, as opposed to just financial stuff. What do you think i should do? ( we have tons of proof of co miggling ressource and shared financial assets, and of course pictures, travel, etc affidavits would just be the cherry on top)

thanks for your replies! hopefully i should be able to send by Friday!

hi here... so i guess no one will take the time to answer my questions?

Is there something i'm missing? i thought this posts were to find advise and help each other out while putting the file together, I guess i'm wrong...

I don't think the passport photos are needed. I didn't see them required in the i-751 instructions anywhere so we're not sending any.

We're not sending affidavits either..

Our 'human feeling' will be sending some pictures of us with friends and family over the past few years.

They always say a picture paints a thousand words ;)

It's like affidavits.. but more colorful :star:

Hi Vignesh,

Did USCIS suggest calling only to people whose checks haven't been cashed or also to those who haven't received NOA1? My packet was mailed on 4/12, delivered on 4/14, and check cashed on 4/17, but still no NOA1 as of 4/25. I know USCIS is as unpredictable and weird about their practices as can be, but my employer is pestering me for a proof of GC extension...

Thanks!

Also, RE: passport photos. I understood from the instructions that they're only needed in case you can't do biometrics b/c you're working for the gov't abroad (e.g. military) or something like that.

I had previously called USCIS. They said I have to call them if it has been 10 days since you mailed your I-751 packet. They will then let you know if your packet was received using your A-number. So give them a call

Hi

No need of passport pics.

Affidavits: if you have enough evidences, it's not necessary. I did send 2 because we didn't have lease agreements and bills at both our names. Also because I had to travel back to Canada to help my parents.

Good luck

Thank you so much Jo&Si and Engineer21 for your replies good.gif

The instructions i have printed mention photo pictures and print cards, but it's probably an older version. When i think of it i realize that we get biometrics taken at some point so it makes no sense to send it anyway laughing.gif

I'm almost ready to send so, affidavit or not. I have a lot of evidence for "human feeling" already (travel itineraries, photos, cards from friends and family to us....) to go with the "serious stuff" (house, car, cc, insurance, etc...) . Just a couple more days of printing and sorting all the documents, and we are good to go (since i already asked for them, if affidavits arrive in between, it won't hurt to add it to the file cool.gif)

Hopefully i can send on Friday so i'll be an April filer like in 2010! luv.gif

thanks again for your input!

Not that I forgot to sign anything. I just looked at the copies of documents I sent in but what would happen if someone forget so sign an application or check? Do you get your paperwork and evidence back so you can fix errors and re-submit?

JUST CURIOUS :innocent:

they return it to you to resubmit.

That's what's in the current instructions but if you read above where those are mentioned it says "Those who reside overseas pursuant to military or Government orders..." It's important to read carefully to avoid mistakes. They wouldn't have cared most likely but you would have wasted the money on photos... better re-read the instructions to make sure you didn't miss something else.

RE: contacting USCIS 10 days after filing, as described by Vignesh

I just called USCIS because I still haven't received the NOA1 2 weeks after filing. They refused to give me any information, including whether they received my mailing, because it hasn't been 30 days since filing yet. Can you clarify who was willing to speak to you just 10 days after filing? I checked with the bank and know USCIS cashed my check (it wasn't stolen or anything), but lack of the NOA1 is problematic and it's infuriating that they're refusing to disclose any information.

Thanks!

Hi otta,

I called USCIS 3 days after i mailed my I-751 packet and asked them if they received it. i had called to clarify my question on Tax Transcripts and casually asked if they received my packet and when I can expect NOA1. For NOA 1 they said I can call them in 10 days and they will not answer before 10 days. This is not for NOA 2 (biometrics appointment). They said they can track with A-number but only after 10 days.

Hi,

Thanks for clarifying. That is weird; I was calling for NOA1 information (not NOA2), two weeks after filing, so more than 10 days, and they flat out refused to talk until it has been 30 days. Sigh. Happy to hear you got your extension though!
