I-485 Petition for Alien Relative for Alla Alexandrovna Odom

Supplement to I-485 Part B - Part B? What is this about. There is an I-485 Supplement B but that's for nationals of Cuba and Nicuragua.. are you sure you labelled this correctly?

Copy of Alla Alexandrovna Odom’s Passport Should only be her bio page including I-94 front and back This should be a separate line item

Copy of Marriage License and a certified copy Why are you sending the licence and a certified copy? You need the marriage CERTIFICATE and it need only be a copy

G-325A Biographic Information

Supplement to G-325A Don't do a separate line item and specify WHAT it is. Make sure her name and alien number as well as what question it pertains to are on the form.

Two Passport photos with full name and A# on the back You are submitting AP and EAD and therefore require SIX photos

I-693 Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Record Page 1 and 5, with original Ukraine vaccination record, English translation and USA vaccination records Are you saying she had shots here in the US and a CS signed off on it? Because if they didn't you DO NOT include the i-693 and instead just include the DS-3025. If she HAD to have shots here and you haven't seen a CS then you need to

My opinion is you should have separate cover sheets for your step-daughter and your wife. Please see my notes above.

You are also missing all the supporting documentation for the EAD and AP. Each form is separate and requires its own information.

My thread here: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/235331-aos-ead-ap-from-k1-the-aussie-way-doc-list-included/ explains what each form needs and yes it means duplicate but the files are split up once they arrive at chicago.

You need to include a photocopy of the primary I-864 with the daughters packet and be sure to include supporting documents with each application (I-765 and I-131), as if they are independant.

Vanessa,

I read your thread and went back and read some things on USCIS’s site. When I was making my packet I used 2 threads here

Adjustment of Status Guide (K1 & K3 Visa Holders, and http://www.visajourn...st-and-present/,

On the I-485 there was not enough room for Alla’s middle name so I made a supplement to it and on the G-325A there was not enough room for my city and country of birth maybe they should be titled different, but I felt it should be clarified.

On V/J guide this is what it said “Copy of the non US Citizen Spouses Passport (biographical page as well as entry stamps)” so to avoid anything being left out I copied her entire passport (too much is always better than not enough). Also you may be right and a separate line item with the I-94

In my state I received a marriage license and then a portion of that is turned into the county for recording purposes. After recording then a “certified” copy of the marriage can be obtained, so I included both (copies).

On V/J’s guide it only said to include 2 photos, but I read USCIS instructions on the AP and EAD which also require 2 passport photos, so it looks like the will get a total of 6 photos :)

Neither Alla nor her daughter got the correct vaccinations before leaving the Ukraine, so no completed DS-3025. They had vaccination records from the Ukraine and they were translated. We went to a CS and got the needed vaccinations and the CS signed the I-693 pg1 & 5. I also got a sealed set of the I-693 for the interview.

On the tread http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/287035-calling-all-k-2-aosers-past-and-present/ it said “I-864 - Affidavit of Support K-2's don't require their own separate I-864 with supporting documents (tax returns, etc). Make sure they are listed in section 9 of the K-1's I-864, and provide a photocopy of the K-1's I-864 with the K2's paperwork. You don't need to include copies of the supporting documents with the K-2's paperwork. You won't get an RFE if you do happen to provide a separate I-864 with supporting docs for the K-2. It's just not required.” Which made sense to me. If the packet is one, the tax forms and documents are already there and not needed again separately. This is also why I am going to sent one packet –so it is all together. For Alla’s daughter I did not separate the forms to obtain her K2 visa?

I sent an actual certified document. A copy of a certified document is NOT a certified document.

True BUT a copy is acceptable. FWIW I got three "originals" when I picked up our certified certificate for an extra $7 each. Copies are OK, keep the original in case they ask for it. I used copies of the original for the AOS, the RoC and the citizenship application. We brought an original to the citizenship interview with another copy. They kept the copy, inspected and returned the original.

Cover letters and tables of contents are optional. You could do the whole thing without one (I did)So to put too fine a point on what it says, what should be listed as a seprate item is simply ...well, not necessary. You can toss the letter in the trash, the only thing that matters is the documentation attached anyway. If anything does not "fit" you always have the option to print and handwrite any or all of the form, as long as it is legible.

I-765 and I-131 ARE separate applications even though sent together, they require separate documentation, passport photos, etc. Get lots of passport photos, USCIS is worse than your grandmother about photos. do not worry about them being "recent" or within 30 days. We used leftover photos from the petition for Alla's citizenship interview 4 years later. No major changes in appearance, she still looks young ebough to be her SON's wife!

K-2 does NOT require a separate I-864 for the AOS if filed together with the K-1. I did not provide one spearately for Pasha. No problems.

One check is fine, no need to do separate checks. If the amount is correct you will be fine. I always did ONE check for Alla and the boys for AOS and RoC. No problems.

did you include any documentation of joint marital property, etc.? Joint bank acount, listing her as a beneficiary on insurance, etc. I know it is early and it is hard to provide much at this stage but a few things are simple to do.

Yes I read on the USCIS website copies are acceptable and I will have all the originals for the interview.

The cover letter was also for me, as a check list to make sue I had everything :)

I thought at this point all the documentation that was needed to show a marriage was the marriage license? But not a big deal I will include what I have, which after 2 months is not a lot.

The photo thing I just did not catch and I am thankful for everyone's help!!!

THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nothing wrong with a cover letter, there just is no "correct" way to do it. VJsuggests some examples but that is not the only way. Since it is for you more than them, do what works for you.

Always keep original documents for yourself. You need to send original forms with original signatures, of course (keep a copy for yourself) but for documents, keep the original and do not leave an interview without making sure you have ALL your originals.

In theory yes, all you need is the marriage license. You MAY have an interview and you MAY be requested to bring more evidence to that interview...which will be some months down the road. IF you have some other documentation...joint bank account, joint tax return, listing her on your medical insurance/life insurance, etc. go ahead and include it.

In addition to getting married, you must establish to their staisfaction that the marriage is genuine and not entered into for immigration benefits only. They know you will not have a lot of evidence after 2 months, and they do not expect a LOT but even within 2 months it is very easy to do some of the basic things of joining two lives.
