I have heard and read that some of AOS applicants did not go through Interview and got their greencard .. I just want to know why some of applicants doesnt need interview and few still needs interview?

We all wonder about this. It is a very individual thing, and no one knows what goes through the CO's mind. My wife had one and I know all her papers were perfect.

My friend arrived in US on K1,she never go to Interview during her AOS she said it depends

on the state where you live,she got her greencard by mail.one of her friend live in New jersey

I don't believe it has anything to do with an individual state. I read (somewhere) that most applications don't require an interview.

It could be that when the application is submitted and all paperwork is perfect, that an interview would be waived. I dunno. Maybe one of the more knowledgeable VJers will chime in on that.

6. Go to your interview (if applicable)

You may be notified of the date, time, and location for an interview at a USCIS office to answer questions under oath or affirmation regarding your application. You must attend all interviews when you receive a notice.

When you come to your interview, you (and the family member that filed the Form I-130 petition on your behalf, if applicable) must bring originals of all documentation submitted with this application including passports, official travel documents, and Form I-94 regardless if they are expired.

Not all applications require an interview. USCIS officials will review your case to determine if it meets one of the exceptions.

K-1 applicants (and I would imagine K-3 though those visas are uncommon now) sometimes don't have interviews as their relationship has already been vetted at the consulate level. AOS from any other visa (b-2, f-1, etc) always requires an interview.

They'll schedule an interview if there's anything questionable about the case, but I think they also select some K1 cases for interviews at random. My wife and I were selected, and I know there were no issues with our paperwork. The interview was short, the IO was very friendly, and we were approved on the spot. If there were any issues that needed to be addressed I presume the IO would have brought them up at the interview, but nothing was brought up. I have to assume it was random.

Si, man. A very sharp immigration attorney told me that, by statute, 10% of AOS & ROC applicants must be interviewed.
