Hi,

NVC sent our approved NOA2 and documents to Mumbai Embassy on February 16. Since then, my fiancee has not received any documents, neither Packet 3 or Packet 4.

Am I missing some step here? I am supposed to send anything to Embassy so that once they recieve my document, they will send Packet 3 or 4?

Is it usual to take this long? I wrote them few times, I called them few times, they are telling none.

Thanks

S

Indian consulates are notorious for never sending packet 3 or it getting "lost" in the mail.

The good news is that you can download all the forms you need from the Mumbai consulates website. Email the completed forms to the consulate or mail them via a courier. Make sure to get tracking or some form of delivery confirmation to know they received it. Even if your tracking shows it as delivered, follow up with a phone call or email to confirm they have it.

Good luck!

We never received Paackets 3 or 4 from Mumbai. We downloaded Packet 3 from the website and sent it via courier. I called the DOS practically daily to find out when everything was sent from NVC to the consulate and to find out if Packet 3 was received because I could never get a straight answer - let alone any answer - from VFS or Mumbai consulate. The DOS had all of the answers so that's a good place to start. Once the interview date was set (we also got that date from DOS too) The Mumbai Consulate would not email packet 4 until our interview was within 15 days - they refuse to send it any earlier. And you need the interview letter prior to going for the medical.

Keep in mind that our NOA2 was 9/30/11. NVC kept our documents for a couple weeks and it took about a month for the consulate to get our petition package "checked in". It took 3 months from that date to have our interview on January 5, 2012.

Best of luck to you!

Yes! I sent Packet 3 via courier to Delhi and tracking confirmed that it was delievered on March 3rd. However, when I emailed to confirm (several weeks later) Delhi said they never received it. They then provided me with the web link to Packet 3 and I was instructed to scan it and email it. I was informed by another VJ'er that Delhi does not accept Packet 3 via courier.

This is great information. I read on K1 Visa instruction that Packet 3 contains only DS-230 and DS-156. Is that all you sent? I just want to make sure and not mess it up. Can you guys please confirm that these are only 2 forms to be sent? Also, can you share email address to which these forms to be sent? Or the link someone mentioned where these documents can be sent? Please help. S

Packet 3 contains the Applicant Statement and DS-230 (part 1, which is two pages). Mine was for Delhi, so for Mumbai I'm assuming it's infousmumbai@vsfhelpline.com.

The link to DS-230 is: http://www.state.gov/documents/organization/81807.pdf

I've pasted the Applicant Statement below:

Applicant’s Statement

I have in my possession and am prepared to present all documents listed above which apply to my case. I fully realize that no advance assurance can be given when or whether a visa will actually be issued to me/us. I also understand that I should NOT give up my job, dispose of property, or make any final travel arrangements until a visa is actually issued to me. At such time as it is possible for me to receive an app ointment to make formal visa application, I intend to apply (check appropriate boxes):

[ ] Alone

[ ] Together with my following minor children

______________________________________________________

(Print complete names of each child who will accompany you)

Date: (mm-dd-yyyy _______________ NWD case number_____________________

Signature:____________________________ Print Name:______________________

If you would prefer that we communicate with you by e-mail, please write your e-mail address below. Please use block letters and put one character in each box:

Please do not make any travel plan before issuance of visa.

Any false statement or concealment of a material fact may result in your permanent exclusion from the United States. Please do not make any travel plans until the visa is issued to you.

I've pasted below a list of common mistakes on DS-230 that I just came across and see that I made the second mistake listed. I wrote N/A instead of "none" or "never" where applicable. Anyone have any idea what kind of problem this might cause?

Below are some common problems we encounter in conjunction with Immigrant Visa applications. Please take time to read the items below and become familiar with the information you received in this package so that your immigrant visa processing can go smoothly and quickly.

Application Form (DS-230):

•Complete all sections of the application. Do not leave any question unanswered. This includes all parts of questions 22 and 23.

•Do not use the term "not applicable" or "N/A". Instead write "none" or "never".

•Sign and date the bottom of page 2. Copies or facsimiles of your signature are not acceptable. Parents of children under 14 should also sign the child's name and write "by (father) or (mother), whichever is appropriate.

•Do not sign the bottom of page 4. You should only sign page four when instructed to do so by the consular officer during your visa interview.

Gugugugu, what did you include in packet 4? Are these the Docs we submitted to NVC? (PCC, Birth & Marriage Certificates, etc) Since, I already submitted the documents to NVC I don't need to send anything to the Embassy, right? I will bring copies with me when I go to the interview.

After calling almost everyday for last 4 weeks, finally came to know that Mumbai embassy has "LOST" our documents and they can not track where they are. Can you believe it? Now they are searching for our documents and will "inform" us when they find it which I am sure that they will not inform us and we will be sitting ducks until then.

I spent months and months to prepare for everything that there will not be any mistakes. And these people are so lousy that they can even keep track of documents. Just wanted to share my experience.

Sorry to hear. Have they lost the packet that NYC sent or the Packet 3 forms that you have sent? If its the Packet 3 forms, then you can just send them again.
