What are the chances of obtaining a visiting visa for the purpose of a conference, if one is already waiting for an immigrant visa to be approved or for priority date to become current? has anyone had luck getting the visitors visa?

It is very hard to get a visitors visa from Nigeria. You basically have to show that you are compelled to leave when your given stay is up. The fact that you have close family memebers in the US probably makes it worse. Also people that come on visitors visas and think they are to be abused to stay in the US like another Nigerian posted today only futher ruin the reputation of Nigerians abusing the process. You can try but it is probably not going to turn out favorably. Can you show proof that this conference is related to a job that you have held for some time ? Do you have significant family/property ties to Nigeria ?

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

Your chances are slim but it can be done my brother in law got a visiting visa out of Nigeria and come to find out he got a 2yr visa so we were excited. They only asked him who was he going to see and when did his brother (my husband) get married they didnt ask him for proof of anything so to get a visitors visa is a luck of the draw and what co you have. Now in your case u mentioned u had a petition pending so that may or may not effect ur approval goodluck! :thumbs:

Mar 28, 2011 Received txt/email saying card production has been ordered. (1month 3eeks 3days)

Mar 28, 2011 Received 2nd txt/email saying we have registered this customer permanent residence status
