The doctor conducting medical examinations in Sydney is booked two months in advanced. Due to this we scheduled my husbands medical examination ahead of time. Its on Friday, we just got our NOA2 approval notice (text) yesterday. What do we need for my husband to continue with the scheduled medical exam? A case number? A letter? :help:

Congrats on your NOA2!

Usually the panel physicians like you to have your case number before having the medical - some are stricter on this than others.

Are you using Dr Waks? I had heard that he was one of the stricter ones about having the case number, but I had seen one member posting more recently who didn't have their case number either and I don't think they had a problem. They let you book the appointment so maybe they aren't going to require it.

If you just got your NOA2 yesterday, then its highly unlikely that you will have the case number before Friday.

Guess the best thing to do would be to give them a call and ask them.

Yes, my husband is going to see Dr. Waks. We have rescheduled my husbands appointment 4 times, because we don't have a case number and because they are so booked up. Now they want to charge us a fee if we don't cancel and reschedule in a sufficient amount of time. Wasn't sure if there was a letter we had to take to them...maybe we should reschedule again before they charge us.

Did the Dr's office tell you that you can't have the medical without the case number? Or had you been rescheduling of your own accord? I ask because I did a quick search here on VJ and found a member who had her medical done with Dr Waks before she had her case number (but I think her medical was done around 18mths ago).

If it's the Doctor's office telling you that you have to have the case number then I don't think you're going to have much choice but to reschedule because I can pretty much guarantee that you are not going to get that case number by Friday.

The doctor's office personnel is telling us we need a case number...:( I may call them and let them know our status to determine if we need to reschedule or not...worth a try.

No need to worry. Your fiance can have the medical exam without a case number. Just make sure to send everything else they require. My fiance took his medical exam in Sydney with Dr. Waks and without a case number in Feb. and we are still waiting for it but we just received the letter of approval last week! :-D Anyway, when your fiance is at the appointment just let the admin assistant know that you are expecting it any day now and will call them as soon as you receive it. They will hold on to the medical results until you call in with the case number and then they will send it to the embassy.

By the way, you need to send them an email with the following information asap! If you have not sent this information already they can cancel your appointment. So send it now and call them to make sure they received it!

Type of Visa: Non-immigrant (K-1 Fiance Visa)

Home Address: XXXXXX

Telephone Number: XXXXXXX

Email Address: XXXXXXX

Have you every lived overseas for more than 12 months? XXXXXXX

Have you contacted the US Consulate in Sydney? Yes

Wow....seems a shame the Dr Millar retired....because I never had to jump through all these hoops that you are posting when I had my medical with him!

I didn't have to send any information ahead of time. I just showed up on the day with my passport, passport photos and vaccination records. They sent the results (both the originals for the Consulate and a copy for my records!) about a weeks later I think. And I didn't even have my case number at the time (funnily enough I called when I got home from my medical and low and behold - they had assigned my case number lol!)

So sorry that you are having to go through this.

Just a thought though.....have you tried calling the other panel physician in Sydney and seeing what the situation is with them (ie needing the case number, how long it takes to get an appointment)? I believe another panel physician has been appointed since Dr Millar retired. I have put a link to the panel physician list in another post, and I think she is available from mid-March. However, I also have a sneaking suspicion that she may be in the same offices as Dr Waks, so maybe she follows the same policy.

Your sneaking suspicion is correct. There are two doctors in Sydney, Dr. Waks & I can't remember the other doctor's name, ironically they are in the same office/address. My husband will making a visit to Melbourne, so we will cancel his appointment with Dr. Waks and go with the doctor in Melbourne. :)

Yeah I figured as much...I vaguely remembered the address being the same when I looked at the updated list.

Good luck with it..
