A friend of mine has her young son over here in the USA....(she is married to a USC and she is now a green card holder)

Her son wont be going back to Australia and is under 16. He is here on a visa waiver and IS ALLOWED TO JUST DO AN AOS to stay here.

But the question is.....

When enquiring to do the same for my son, my quick ring around discouvered medical appt fee for visa's priced up to $800 the cheapest was $600 (delaware is supposed to be cheaper)

My gf and hubby are really broke and was wondering if anyone knows of a cheaper place to go for sons medical. (in fact Im wondering if they are eligible to use the same physician the refugees go to which is free)

They are situated on the 95 corridor between DC and NYC area.....

BTW its the same medical that we have to get in australia for the visa....costs around $AUD400 back home

You just look up a civil surgeon in their area and use that. The medical is usually $200ish or so. There are a couple of threads that talk about cheaper civil surgeons but it has to be one designated by USCIS.

Here's the wiki that was made from the "CS's that don't rip you off" thread: http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/Civil_Surgeon_List

Here is the USCIS CS locator: https://egov.uscis.gov/crisgwi/go?action=offices.type&OfficeLocator.office_type=CIV

They aren't entitled to use anything "cheaper" 'cause part of the process is proving they can support him financially so being unable to pay for the medical looks bad. Sucks but there you go.

Are his vaccines up to date? My husband's medical (DC metro) was about $700 but that was because he needed numerous vaccines. The exam itself was around $250.

Not necessarily. $200 is good but the ONLY CS is my area is an hour away and he charges $650. Luckily I was in Houston when I did my I-693 transcription so there were more CS's around and it only cost $50.

Plus the $200 assumes he doesn't need a lot of shots.

He is yes, but hopefully he didn't enter with intent to AOS as that's immigration fraud. I should also mention that if denied AOS there is no appeal for AOS from the VWP and he would need to leave the country.
