I want to apply for citizenship

I want to know if I can put the address in the city where I am studying now. my wife is living with her parents right now and I would like to know, if it would be safe to apply for my citizenship putting another address. We have done the taxes together and we have proof that we are living together.

is that possible?

You need to provide the address that is present on all your identifcation documents that you are submitting as evidence. And remember that you should have satisifed the continous residence and the physical presence criteria, before filing in your citizenhsip application.

Your permenant residence in the US is the location you expect to dwell at for the forseeable future or return to if not currently there. For example, a college student that is residing in another state, but all their IDs are in another state would be considered to live where all the documentation says you live. There is a requirement that all persons notify the DMV of a move after typically 30 days to update their residence. The USCIS has the ten day requirement of notifying them when you move. Why? To update your official residence. I would put as my residence wher you expect to reside after college is complete which sounds like teh address that is on all your bank accounts and DL. You can us your college address as a MAILING address, but not as your residence. Here's another test: does the college consider you a resident of their state for tution purposes? If they do then your residence is the college address as you have staisfied them and that takes more then just saying you are a residence of that state.

Good luck,

Dave
