hi, number 19 on I-864 AOS asks if you are a us citizen, the first option applies to me, I am a US citizen. however, i got this by naturalization. So, do i add my A- number anyway, or is that not needed since i provided this information with the CR1 I-130?? Should I add it anyway even though I'm a citizen?

if you are not an alien (anymore), you don't add an alien number, unless you want your petition to be put on ice for a few years. The question about whether somebody is a U.S. citizen or a foreign national is important because immediate relatives of U.S. citizen (IR) don't have to wait for a visa number to become available, whereas immediate relatives of U.S. citizens have to wait, oftentimes many years.

So again, if you are a U.S. citizen, do not falsely claim that you are not by providing an alien number you had when you were still a foreign national. The U.S. does not distinguish whether you are a natural born or naturalized citizen; they just want to know if you are a U.S. citizen or not.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . OP, even if you are a naturalized citizen, the A number does not go away. In fact, it is even on your naturalization certificate. Furthermore, you would not be "falsely claiming" to not be a US Citizen by listing an A# on paperwork that asks for it. Also, since the NVC has your file and has assigned a case number, invoiced the appropriate bills, etc.; putting your A# on paperwork that asks for it would not "ice" your file as the previous post would imply.

i agree with this, and i provided my A number and certificate number (two different things btw) on my i-130 and g-325. everything they have, so this time i just marked the box which applies to me, us citizen, since there was no clarification needed i left it at that, and confirmed that you DO NOT have to list A-number with 2 different NVC reps. :-)
