hi,

my wife received on saturday the 1797c form from Texas Service Center, it was a welcome notice stating uscis has recieved the visa packet from the point of entry, she has been issused an A number etc etc,

what does this all mean....is the green card issued? or pending..i checked thhe uscis tool online to check status and it says that it is in initial review so i am confused...

what about the social security card, she has not recieved that either....i called SS office they informed once DHS gives approval it is issued, i called DHS, they said once welcome letter is received it wont be long soo now im reallly confused...

if anyone can shed some light on this i would appreciate it.

The welcome letter is a good indication that they are aware that the Green Card holder has physically arrived in the US.

You may use that as an indication that they have ordered the actual card and it will be along shortly.

We received our welcome letter on March 6th and the actual card arrived on Thursday, March 12th.

Your experience will vary but the card should be on it's way.

We are still waiting for the Social Security Card. We finally received a letter last week stating they need proof of her Green Card before they can issue a Social Security Card (!).

Some people have reported here that they have waited some time for their Social Security Card. Read up on advice and other experiences in this forum to guage what to do next, if you need to.

So we just sits and waits :)

It will all come together.
