Hola! While I can't answer your question, because is Embassy specific, I suggest you go this other parts of the forum http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/153-caribbean/ that's for your region. I'm sure you'll get more replies there, with accurate information about Dominican Republic.

From the consulate's website: http://santodomingo.usembassy.gov/iv-faq-k1-e.html

USCIS forwards the approved petition to the Department of State’s National Visa Center, which then sends it to the Immigrant Visa Unit of the U.S. Embassy in Santo Domingo. The Immigrant Visa Unit will send you a Package of Instructions for K-1/K-2 applicants.

Package of Instructions for K-1/K-2 Visa Applicants: http://santodomingo.usembassy.gov/k1-k2-appointment-package-e.html

1. You wait 1-2 weeks after you have recieved your new case number from NVC, before calling the embassy in DR (it will cost you $7). (Although it is easier to just call the Visa Special (because it's free) in order to get the interview date for your Fiance (it is free).

(Visa Specialist: 202-663-1225)

2. The petitioner can fill out the DS forms for the beneficiary. You take the forms and other evidence with you TO the interview. BOTH MUST BE PRESENT FOR THE INTERVIEW or it will be an assured denial.

3. You will have to wait for the packet because it does contain the interview letter, and the other documents you will need in other to take the medical and pay the Banco Popular fees. It is 2 fees ($140 visa fee and $15 service fee) they can and WILL make you go back to Banco Popular to pay the $15 service, so make sure to have those receipts on the day of the interview. If you happen to NOT get a packet (nor your Fiance) which happens in most cases, you must call the Embassy 2-3 weeks before your interview (so you have enough time for the medical which takes atleast a week). Tell them to make a duplicate of the packet for your Fiance to pickup at the Embassy, so they can get their medical done and pay the Banco Popular fees. Also do not forget to have your Fiance (the benefiaciary) get a police certificate. That can take up to a month sometimes, so better to get it out of the way as soon as possible. Along with pictures/phone logs/chat logs/ or whatever you guys have as proof of your ongoing (bona fide) relationship.

4. They barely ask to see the affidaivit of support for K-1 applicants, but they can be a pain in the #######! So be safe and take it with you to the interview. Along with your W2s, letter of employement, and tax returns!

PS. Please continue to update your timeline, it helps us, help you better. It also helps others on the same boat to get and idea of current processing times and etc...

first off, congrats on the NOA2 and welcome to the waiting/stressing club (LOL). Speeds03 basically told you everything that you need to do at this point. I just wanted to re-state that you can use the number he gave you for the D.O.S. (Department of State) to call and find out the progress of your case (appointment date and when the packet was mailed), BUT you will definitely want to give it a couple of weeks. The fee at Banco Popular and the medical can wait until you receive the packet but try and get the police report out of the way as soon as possible. I have heard that the police record only lasts for 1 month but I am not totally sure about that. If you get any information on that I would love to know. The rest is just gathering all of your evidence and proof of your relationship just like Speeds03 said. Keep us posted

Yup, keep us posted like a posted note! Lol... We have very close dates for all our progress, although you are a little bit ahead of me since you already have a case number, and the Embassy has already received your case. I have to call on Monday to verify my case number, and my case will probably be sent out sometime next week (hopefully as soon as possible) and who knows, we will probably get the same interview date!
