Hi everyone,

I received combo card AP/working permit 3 days ago, exact 60 days since I sent my AOS. I'm considering about going back to my country for 1 month. But my concern is How much longer 'til my GC interview, USCIS haven't sent interview letter yet. If the interview is taken place by the time i'm still in Vietnam, I have to reschedule. I don't want to do that. What should I do now?

The interview letter usually comes shortly after. As to the date of the interview, no one can guess. If you aren't returning for an emergency, I'd suggest that you wait until your GC. Postponing the interview is not advised, especially of its just for a return trip home.

Another V'JER had problems because he had to postpone the interview. His reason was based on his wife having a miscarriage the night before the interview. They had to go through a hassle because their case was erroneously denied for not showing. It's cleared up now.

Advise, if it's not a plausible emergency, wait.

04/29/2009 - Interviewed. I- 130 approved, I-485 pending IO's review
05/05/2009 - Received NOA2. Welcome letter for Permanent Residency. I-130 and I-485 approved 04/30/2009
05/08/2009 - Touched. I-485 approval letter sent
05/11/2009 - GC received in the mail. Expires 2019
05/11/2009 - Applied to remove restrictions on my SS Card
05/18/2009 - Received unrestricted SS card
10/13/2009 - My darling husband of 2 yrs 5 months 3 weeks 3 days passed away :(

Well, K-1 AOS is backing up now, there are many concerns about "transfer for faster processing" but in fact, it is slower than AOS from other visas. You have received work permit/ AP so you can have the interview letter anytime from now so I wouldn't recommend you travel now, but if you have to then travel. Rescheduling an interview appointment is not a really bright idea (we don't know when it will be rescheduled is a good reason to concern.) If you are lucky enough, you don't have any interview at all and they just approve it. Good luck.
