- ANY action what so ever to limit the availability of Porn even to 5th graders could be construed as someone "after your porn".

* What does this have to do with the point you brought up yet failed to respond about- Someone coming after your Birth Control?

I suggest Santorum have himself a televised townhall meeting and with pictures illustrate to America what he feels is "hardcore porn." my guess is he would have issues with anything 'dirtier' than the famous 70's Farah poster.

Unfortunately for Rick, the defender of the Constitution, porn is difficult to define and very much so protected free speech.

Danno - have you ever tried to purchase birth control pills? Can you give me a run down of the procedures and costs?

They were giving them away free at the county health center -- no check up required. All you do is fill out a form, that will not be verified, no id required, and go see the nurse. Of course, that is my county, so YMMV.

Republicans just want to control another part of your life. And Kip, you feed into this when you support bans on Gay marriage. It will not stop at Gay Marriage, Kip.

I for one are thankful that Sanatorium is so true to his religious beliefs that he makes public how crazy and dangerous he really is before he can do any harm. I think Obama can think his invisible man in heaven that the Republicans chose to find the craziest nutjobs possible to run for the office of the President of the United States. Obama will have a home-run this November.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

Yes, results vary on this considerably and what you describe is not the norm (and to be honest, not that believable to me - if you can link to this I'll believe you though). Birth control pills (except Plan B) is not sold over the counter.

Hard to link on an unofficial policy. But, free birth control is easy to find. Even for men, most bars in the area have free condoms available thanks to a concerted effort to limit the spread of STD's, something pills, or shots, can't do.

Here is the results from the first search I made:

Always amazes me how someone can defend the second amendment but not the first. Dfend the 10th amendment but not the 4th. You understand that if they do this they can ban YOUR religion right? Same protection, same amendment.

It is like a cafeteria, the effin' brussels sprouts are there even though I hate them, but I cannot take them away because I don't like them. I don't have to EAT them though.

You don't want porn, don't look at it

This is true. And I am not aying Santorum is crazy (probably is but I am not the one to say) but YES he is being honest which allows people to make informed decisions about him. That's good.

Condoms are not birth control pills, however. They are not as effective in preventing pregnancy (oral contraception being 99.9% effective versus 85% for the condom)

Condoms are also not useful for the other health and preventative benefits of oral contraception....most of the men commenting on this issue are unfamiliar with them because they don't menstruate and lack a uterus.

Not to cut too fine a point, pills are only effective when taken (by women) as prescribed, which means they are totally unreliable.

Personally, I prefer the women in my life to use Depo-Provera, and I take them to their appointments religiously. When the current love of my life can no longer get the shot, I will get snipped. Of course, this is all provided for by my current HMO at no additional cost, so I have no dog in this fight, either way.

It would be difficult, even for men, not to pick up a thing or two about women's health in their lifetime...

.

That's true - totally unreliable for men. Men have options, as you point out. If a woman doesn't want to get pregnant, she has the most reliable option available and it's up to her to take it as prescribed.

It would be difficult, even for men, not to pick up a thing or two about women's health in their lifetime...

Of course. Same for women. Doesn't mean I know what it's like to be kicked in the balls.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

I do not think Santorum is crazy, I think he is misguided in trying to fight a culture war to maintain a definition of acceptable activities in the legislature of the US, it is a losing proposition, one could argue it is an unconstitutional war I suppose. Fighting a war in the legislature on what people do to themselves or what they do with other consenting adults is a losing proposition when you are trying to say people can't do something. Easier to win when someone is saying people should be able to do something to themselves or with other consenting adults. Even easier to win a war to restrict behavior when someone is hurting someone else, see penalties for murder, lying under oath, stealing, assault and battery, etc. One exception I can think of is the criminalization of personal consumption drug usage, they will probably tweak these laws eventually I suspect and allow for more freedom and liberty in this area. I do applaud Santorum for staying true to his beliefs in the public square, it takes courage to do that, irrespective of a person's views.
