Tax transcripts are the biggest item they look for. If you do not have this then yes a bunch of pay stubs are important, so are letters from the employers.

Why did you say you are sending pay stubs " in leu of a transcript and W2 " that means instead of/you don't have transcript and W2. But you do have them?

Paystubs and employment letters don't replace tax return transcripts, they come in addition to, to show your current income (because tax transcripts are always a year behind). If you only send paystubs NVC will reject your AOS package.

Then if you send tax return transcripts, you don't need W2s. You have to choose between sending:

- tax return (1040) + W2 and any other form you filled in when filing your taxes OR

- tax return transcripts.

The latter is the preferred document and I have seen members receive a checklist from NVC requesting transcripts, although they had provided the first batch of documents.

If you decide to send paystubs, you don't need 6 months of it, just the last few paystubs will be fine.

i am sending the pay stub (not stubS) to prove current employment for my employment i am sending letters on letterheads. i am of course sending the tax transcripts. however, for my mother who is my joint sponsor i must send her W2's because she files jointly with my father. i do not want to include my father's income, therefore i am sending her W2's to prove her individual income is sufficient.

Yes what you say is correct. Tax transcripts and W2 only inform you of previous year's income. for current income, you will need the letter from employer and the pay stubs. The letter shows your expected income of the year and also indicates that you are expected to keep this job i.e. whether it is permanent or the contract ends on such and such a date. The pay stubs indicate that you are still employed by them and receiving income since the date the letter was written so you didn't just get a letter from a company and then left. That is why both are important. If your pay stub shows YTD then I suppose only the most current is needed but if you send more it will indicate a steady flow of income through out the year which can then also be used to calculate expected income for the year. Basically there is no need to be stingy with the documentation. If you have them then go ahead and send it. It is better than getting an RFE.

Sorry but you will get an RFE if you only send the W2. A W2 is not sufficient by itself and requires the full tax return, all pages.

sending both

no letter from joint sponsor however, her boss is a jacka**, but her pay stubs and 3 recent tax returns showing sufficient income. Will send my two letters and pay stub from my primary employer since the second job i just started. but yes, of course the copious pages of tax transcripts are a given

wrong choice of words after a long night of research and putting the finishing touches on my package. i am sending:

my transcripts for 2010, 2009, 2008

joint sponsor transcripts for 2010, 2009, 2008

joint sponsor's w'2 for 2010, 2009 and 2008 separating her income from her spouse

joint sponsor's pay most recent pay stub for 2012 showing YTD

my 2 employment letters on letterhead indicating my start date, role of position and annual income

my 1 paystub that shows my primary position's wages (i'm a waitress at a new place, so i can only list the hourly which is pathetic anyway, so a letter suffices)

my joint sponsor's passport info page to prove citizenship

of course the cover sheet and cover letter

after i send this package, i will send my husband my 2011 and my joint sponsor's 2011 returns so that he can bring it to his interview. i'm pretty sure that this is gonna go okay

Since you have no information for 2011 in yourpackage, I would put in the copies of the W2s for 2011 and in your cover letter write that tax return has notyet been filed for 2011. You can take the return to the interview but it will be good to avoid an RFE if they ask for something from the most recent tax year.

i spoke with nvc and they said that up until april 17th, they are accpeting 2010 tax returns. i've confirmed this twice, also confirmed that i can send 2011 to my hubby. i have my return filed but my joint sponsor's won't be ready until probably april 15th, so i want to get aos out ASAP

i spoke with nvc and they said that up until april 17th, they are accpeting 2010 tax returns. i've confirmed this twice, also confirmed that i can send 2011 to my hubby. i have my return filed but my joint sponsor's won't be ready until probably april 15th, so i want to get aos out ASAP

That is fine, I understand that. you don't need to send the tax return for 2011. However, you are providing financial information for 2008, 2009, 2010 (Tax transcripts) and 2012 (Pay stubs). You have no financial information for 2011. I don't see it as a major issue. But I would include some information from 2011 in my packet even if the tax return is not there. It is up to you if you decide to include it or not.
