I'm sending docs via registered philpost mail to US Em Manila..Can i know if someone have experienced this? how fast and how reliable?

I thought it's in the USA to Phil but from Taguig to USEmbassy registered mail (contents - documents) must be 1 week. better have 2Go or any other fast carrier delivery.

It can take a month or more even registered. I had things take longer than a month that I sent registered. The thing is, through the USPS, once it hits the Philippines I think you are out of luck. At least that is what I remember it being like when I was having to do that, but I could be wrong. I just know it was always a gamble regardless of how sent through USPS. We got lucky though most times. I was always way ahead on times just in case I had to send something again. If it was something that had to get signatures or whatever, I would email a scanned copy (if it was allowed) and have my wife sign on it, then she would send it by mail back to me. At least that way we only had to run the gauntlet one time, Philippines to the US, via mail.

kasi i mailed it Last Monday (March 12)...dito lang naman ako sa Manila and the document is to be sent to US Embassy Manila...do you mean its really 2 weeks..that means 14 business days (not including Sat and Sunday)????

its registered mail...not regular....I think you mean regular = normal mail. Normal mail will take forever

I also thought you meant from the USA to the Philippines. Didnt read down far enough to see you were talking about Taguig, Philippines to US Embassy in Philippines. That is a different story I am sure....

Two more things to add about mail in the Philippines:

First, an old Filipino urban legend -- postal workers put envelopes containing greeting cards in the freezer overnight, so that the glue releases, and look inside for cash. Then they reseal the envelope and put it out for delivery.

Second, a more current scam -- documents used to steal someone's identity, and use the information to obtain a visa to the US.

^^ I think the card thing is true especially on holidays. The card I sent to my best friend NEVER arrived and the book she sent me, I never received. (Regular mail)

Ironically, when I sent a card with $40 in it as payment to my best friend in the Phils for the CD I requested her to purchase for me, she received it. (Regular mail)

I think the difference is the Holiday season. Seems that Holidays turn postal workers into thieves overnight :hehe:
