Registered mail is unreliable and subject to inspection, which means the item, even if it does arrive, will no longer contain anything of value.

what do you mean by "will no longer contain anything of value"?

you mean the letter if i send a letter will be read by the inspector????

Philippines postal workers are typically underpaid, so they supplement their income by pilfering from the mail. Registered means one thing, "Open me, I contain something of value." For customs inspectors, it means charging an excessive customs fee, if indeed it is something of value. Otherwise, it just disappears along the way.

I have sent documents through the regular mail without problems, using padded mailers and writing on both sides in big letters, "DOCUMENTS ONLY -- NO CASH INSIDE". My attempts at sending things through registered mail were unsuccessful. Luckily for me, those items were able to be refunded once they expired, usually in 60 days. I only lost the cost of the postage.
