Hello everyone,

I have received an email this morning from USCIS asking me to show up at the USCIS office due to missing documents. I became a US citizen more than 6 months now.

Here is the contents:

Dear XXXX,

It has come to our attention that an important document is missing from your immigration file. Please print this e-mail and bring it with you to the USCIS office in xxxx, xx IMMEDIATELY.

Please have with you a photo I.D. and your original Naturalization Certificate.

I am so tired of dealing with USCIS. It has been a long journey and I don't know and don;t even want to know what else they want from me.

Anyone has had similar experience? Why would they want me to show up at the USCIS office? If something is really missing why not ask me to mail it to them?

SIGH***

Thank you for reading my vent and question.

That is very odd. Did you recently petition for someone? If not, I have no idea why they would look at your file 6 months later. I wonder if there is normally a copy of the Naturalisation Cert in ones closed immigration file, as this is the only document they mention in your email.

I assume you checked the headers of the email and it is really from USCIS?

I agree with others that if something was missing they would:

1. Mail you a letter

2. Call you

Email would be a LAST option... if at all. They have all your info and they like a paper trail! Can you post the email sender info and the address they want you to go to? If not have you looked up the address to find out if it's really a USCIS office? Maybe someone in the office screwed up and is trying to cover their tracks? Scary!

I also agree that I would NOT go and I would call USCIS to let them know you have received a weird email.

It seems a little odd that you would get an email rather than a paper letter... I'd be double-checking if I was you!
