Hello All!!! I am happy to announce my husband has been in the US for a lil over 3 weeks... I checked the box to have the SS Card mailed to us, but nothing has come. Last week went to the SSA and they said Homeland Security hadnt input him into the system and to wait. If they dont input him in the system in a few days they will mail his application to Homeland Security in Buffalo NY, which could take another month or so. Has this happened to anyone else? If so what did you do to rectify the situation?

I had checked the thing of as well but seeing as a lot of people don't get their SS cards as fast or at all I took my husband in to the SS office less than a week after he arrived and applied for a number got it a week later. I think it all depends from state to state.

My case is different from yours but the SSN issue and timeline might be able to apply to your case.

I adjusted my status from B2 and after I got my EAD card, I went to SSA office and she told me that I had to wait for 10 days after the issuing date on the card. So the officer kept my paper and said she will process it for me after those 10 days pass.

One week later, I got a phone call from her, she asked me to come in to the SSA office again since she tried to process my case but she couldn't find my information in the system. So I went there, the officer checked my EAD card number and I-94 and name on the card to make sure it's correct.. but she still couldn't find my record from Department of Homeland Security.

The record in there still shown my I-94 and status was still "tourist".. so she mailed the letter to DHS to verify my status. From the day of my 2nd visit to SSA office, it took 3 weeks and I got SSN in the mail box.

Hi, We were told to wait 10 days after arriving in the USA then go to the local Social Security Office. My husband applied on the 10th day and received his SS Card in the mail in 5 days. Good Luck :)
