Thanks to everyone for your advice and input on my situation. I just want to add that we are very ligit and our love and relationship is very very real. We want to do everything leagally, we are not trying to do anything fraudulent. I am new to this site and new to this process. I would like to give a little more insight on our realtionship. We have known each other since we were Kids, but we just started our realtionship as a couple a few months ago. I came to Nigeria in Dec 2011 and back again to see him in Feb 2012, Now he is trying to come here to see me. We have several phone records, textes, chats, emails, and we have pictures, and I have airline reciepts, so when it comes to evidence we are doing pretty good....I just wanted to know the best way to be together finally and be able to start a family and get married. I will continue to do my research on the K1,CR-1,K3 Visa. I will also continue to keep you guys posted. Thanks again all information is welcome and appreciated.

The chances of him getting a visitors visa is slim , so I would start thinking about plan B. If he does get a visa, using it with the intent of staying in the US by marriage is illegal and Nigerians are subject to an extra level of screening so if 10000 people here say they have done it, they are more apt to make an example of a Nigerian than any other nationality . You risk him being banned for life if that is your plan. You can file for a K1 ( fiance ) or a CR1 ( after you marry ) , Either take about a year

Thank you

Chances are he won't get a tourist visa so don't even hope on that. The way your post is written, I'm unsure if you've met before... if that is the case, please proceed with caution. If he's talking marriage before even meeting you that's a big red flag for fraud, and also, you NEED to have met before filing for the fiance visa, so in any case, start looking into visiting Nigeria first.

Oh, nevermind my post then, since you've met. Keep gathering evidence as sadly it's a very difficult consulate. Get letters from family members stating you've been together for a while. I personally would apply for a CR1, but I don't know if that's a better or worse option for Nigeria. Good luck, keep reading the guides and the regional forums especially and you'll be fine.

You say that you've known each other for years, that means you're Nigerian as well? If yes/no I guess that means both sides of the family know about it and gives their blessing? If yes then your on the path to success. Go on another visit, an extended one (3 months and up). That way you get to spend un-rushed time with your bf and it looks good to the consulate official.

I have been to Nigeria and been around Nigerians for decades. I know how they "play" the system and expect to get to the US. Some fake interest in people in the US, some fake relationships to ride along on DV lottery, others try a slew of passports trying to get a different answer on a different day. Compared to others it seems to be a national past time.

You are absolutely correct! The fraud being perpetuated in Nigeria is so high it is unbeleiveble and some will do ANYTHING to get to US by any means necessary even if it means faking their love to their American "Partners". That's why I alsways tell especially the ladies on this forum who are USC to be sure of their "partners" before filing for them. Even now, the US Embassy in Lagos sends out investigators (Nigerians) to check on some of the applications suspected of fraud. I know some Nigerians get defensive and I can understand that because not every Nigerian applying for visa are fraudulent but Nigeria indeed has the highest fraud rate. When any scam is discussed anywhere on the news, Nigeria scam letteres always come up, which is so sad, but there are good honest people who are really have genuine relationships. It's just that a few rotten apples have messed the whole damn thing! Again USC ladies vet your Men before making a lifetime committment. Good luck to you all on your journey of Love and good life!

Since the relationship is new, date as I said by you visiting or apply for B1/2 visa or get a K1 visa. With the latter remember that in the 90 days you DON'T have to get married at that time (heard of a couple filing 2nd K1 because they just weren't ready for marriage initially). Nigerian CO's 'smell fraud' when within 5 months of a relationship starting the couple is already married or filies a K1. In Nigeria it may be common place to get married in a short time but in the 'western world' people most time date for a couple years before being engaged/married and that's a standard that they are holding you guys to.

Come back in 2 weeks and let us know if he got a visa.

How many times have you visited him.

I will come back and let you know the outcome and I visited him twice so far.

I would suggest a few more visits.

well i'll jump in & say this

1st i don't think they do K-3's anymore

the cr-1' really long so they came up with the k3 however due to the fact that the cr1 now takes about the same time the k3 is now all done (this was my understanding)

i went the cr-1 route with my lady because she is from the Philippines & there too people will do ANYTHING to come to the U.S.

i have seen people on here crying the blues because their k-3 was not approved

they then had to start the whole process over again & go for the cr-1

i also made a point of having a huge curch wedding in my wifes home province

we even had the mayor there & we have the pictures to prove it

so uncle piglett says:

take a few more trips ( as Boiler said)

take lots of pictures

have a BIG wedding and invite anyone important from the area

all of this will be a huge help when it's interview time

you may have to fight them but in the end if you really love this man it will work out

take care & good luck

Truth is you probably won't get a tourist visa. Do what's necessary to go to Nigeria.

I'm tired of people always responding to posts about Nigeria saying it's a high fraud consulate and that Nigerians are always posing to gain the hearts of an American so they can make it to the US. From what I've seen, there are far more people who have met/married people from other countries and are here asking advice on how to rid themselves of their spouse. You have not been to Nigeria, you have not experienced the people nor the many cultures, and you have no first hand knowledge of applying for B2 in Nigeria, yet you continue to perpetuate hate when you can and call it truth. You high five each other in your ignorance and feel it's your right to do so.

I'm Nigerian and Im not sure why you are offended by what was said, its true and you know it!! Definitely its not everyone but a good number! They said be careful, sounds like good advice to me!
